My Quest For Fuller, Thicker Eyebrows with Sian Dellar

I have really sparse brows. That is a fact. I’m not sure when the sparse brows happened either but I think it was when I overplucked my eyebrows in my teens. I’m sure I had fuller, thicker eyebrows before that though! So I’ve always been on a bit of a mission to find fuller, thicker eyebrows and thank goodness that there are so many products now on the market that you can buy to achieve that look. However for some reason I always feel like I am just not getting the look right. I can’t draw on the tiny hairs properly or maybe I don’t have the right product but when I get my brows filled in professionally they always look so much better. So when the opportunity arose to visit Sian Dellar’s Permanent Make-Up Clinic at 1 Harley Street I immediately thought ‘brows!’. I’ve been looking to get my brows ‘fixed’ for awhile and Sian actually specialises in a range of semi-permanent make-up treatments, including brows so I was instantly interested.

Semi-permanent make-up sounds initially very scary but once I had had a browse on Sian’s website, read the reviews and seen the before/after photos I was very interested in getting my brows done. To have someone else’s expert touch on my brows and to have them look like they are done all the time sounded pretty good to me. The main thing I was worried about was keeping my brows looking really natural so that no one could tell I had my brows ‘done’. Luckily, I was in expert hands.

Now so how does it work? This is done via the art of Microblading, also known as eyebrow embroidery. This is where semi-permanent make-up is applied via a specially designed tool that deposits pigment into the epidermis of the skin. The tool creates really realistic-looking hairs that are simply filled in with your real hairs. Honestly you wouldn’t even notice which is the best thing. Sian also makes sure to draw the shape on before you even start and you can check to make sure you are happy with the shape and thickness of your new brows before the treatment begins.

I also wondered if the treatment would be painful but it wasn’t at all. Literally the most painful part is the eyebrow plucking that Sian does to help tidy up the eyebrows so she can create a perfect shape prior to the treatment. After that she applies a numbing cream to the brows so that all you really feel during the treatment is a vague scraping and scratching feeling against the skin which is not painful at all.

The hairs that Sian draws on are amazing and looks so real. They are super fine and blend in with your own hairs so if you wanted full and thick brows all your life you can have them!

Not only does Sian do brows but she also does semi-permanent make-up to enhance the lips and eyes too as well as eyelash extensions.

The results are long-lasting as well with the brows lasting from 12 to 18 months with a touch up once a year to retain the shape and the colour. That’s 18 months of not having to fill in your brows! Just see the before/after pics of a client below (Image Credit: Sian Dellar Clinic).
