I have really fine hair. Like baby fine hair. That baby fine hair has the tendency to make my hair look like it’s quite thin, which it actually really isn’t. So although there are a lot of hairs on my head, unfortunately the strand size of each of those hairs is quite tiny. So I’ve therefore decided to enlist the help of some hair thickening heroes to save the day! So mission: get thicker hair has now commenced!
I’m including all the hair care heroes in this post that are great for fine-haired folk like me and they are good ones!
First up is Scandi hair brand Sachajuan. I really love this brand which hails from Stockholm, the home of all things cool (in my mind anyways!). I love the minimalist packaging of the product and the fact that the products do exactly what they say ‘on the tin.’
So first up for mission: get thicker hair naturally has to be the Sachajuan Thickening Shampoo and Sachajuan Thickening Conditioner. Both of these products contain Ocean Silk and thickening technology that give hair smooth volume. What is also great about these two products is that they contain heat and UV protectants so they are perfect for summer. The Ocean Silk Technology is a rich formula which contains minerals and proteins to strengthen the hair. Thick hair means strong hair to me. I really love these two products because they don’t weigh my hair down and they really do make my hair feel more voluminous.
Because my hair is fine it means that it gets tangled really easily. Tangled hair means that it can get damaged more easily because of the constant pulling and tugging at the hair (use a Tangle Teezer please!) so enter here the Sachajuan Hair Repair.
Sachajuan Hair Repair is fabulous for the summer when hair is exposed to sun which can weaken strands. And if you want your hair to be thicker then you have to make sure it is really healthy. If you have had a beach holiday that was good for the soul but bad for your hair it’s really good to use this to bring the life back into your hair. It contains loads of minerals, vitamins and proteins to help replenish and nurture.
The next product I LOVE for adding texture, volume and a general sense of thickness to the hair which is the Sachajuan Ocean Mist. It basically turned my hair into beach babe central and it definitely made my hair look fuller and held my waves as well. This is a texturising salt spray that is super ideal for fine hair because the formula is weightless and paraben-free. Definitely one for the must-have list!
For hair to be thicker, longer and healthier we need to start from the scalp. Grow Gorgeous has an amazing Intense Hair Growth Serum that really works! I got my hair chopped off not too long ago and have been using this to see if it would have an effect on the hair regrowth process and I really feel like it has. I have had a few people even comment to me that my hair has grown out really quickly after the hair cut. This helps with thickness by stimulating the hair and scalp – it has been show to help visibly increase hair density by 13% in four months while within two weeks it improves hair growth by 78%. You simply have to drop 10 drops of it a day and massage into your scalp.
My biggest fear is always pulling out my hair and I have to be careful with my fine hair because I don’t want to lose what I’ve got! So when it comes to drying my hair and detangling I try to take the route with the least damage. If I can air dry over drying I will certainly choose that route and what I have found to be extremely helpful in reducing dry time for my hair after washing is the Aquis Hair Lisse Luxe Hair Turban.
Aquis products are super gentle on hair and they make hair towels and also the Lisse Luxe turban which are super absorbent for wet hair and it’s amazing to see how much water it absorbs from the hair! I honestly have reduced my drying time by half with the Lisse Luxe Hair Turban. I love the fact that the fabric is super gentle and perfect for my fine hair.
I also LOVE the Aquis Hair Lisse Luxe Hair Towel for Long Hair – it’s amazing. It wicks the moisture off the hair really quickly and it also reduces the friction. If you want thick hair don’t rough up your hair when it’s wet! Preserve the hair you have and use tools that help you do this.
Again, a lot of this starts from the scalp and there’s nothing like invigorating the scalp with a massage. This Kent Shampoo Brush is great at giving a really good massage. You can use it wet or dry but the instructions are to use it with your shampoo to really lift oil and dirt and stimulate the scalp at the same time.
And last but not least the worst thing you want to do if you have fine hair like me but want hair to look thicker and more voluminous is to use heavy conditioners (treatments are fine though!) every single day. Pantene has just release a new Foam Conditioner which is really meant for fine hair (thank goodness!) and conditions without weighing the hair down. I’m on day 3 after washing my hair and it does still feel lighter and fluffier than usual. This gives fine hair the moisture it needs without making it limp like some heavier formulas do. Finally someone had the fine-haired folk in mind!
