How to Get Longer Lashes: My New Night-Time Routine

Lashes are magic. It’s no surprise how some people say mascara is their ride-or-die product they could never, ever live without. You know when you are asked what your desert island beauty product would be? SO many people say mascara. Why? Because having your lashes lifted, lengthened and volumised does so much to lift your entire face and make you look more awake. And we all want to look more awake right? In the age of the digital world, always being on our phones and constantly on-the-go, the need to look less tired has never been a more important goal in our beauty routines. Therefore, in this post I’m going to tell you how to get longer lashes, a secret we all want to know.

The truth is that I’ve always wanted longer lashes. I look longingly at the lashes of girls who have had them lifted and lengthened, whether naturally or with some help from extensions. I’ve of course considered lash lifts and lash extensions but have never gotten them done because truth be told, I’m nervous. Stories of natural lashes falling out from lash extensions and tales of wonky regrowth after a lash lift have put me off of getting a lash lift or lash extensions. Hence, I’m working on how to get longer lashes with what I’ve got – i.e. my natural lashes. The below images are my natural lashes before using any lash serum (which I’m going to tell you about).

And sometimes you just have to work with what you’ve got! Therefore, I’ve been nourishing my lashes with the Xlash Eyelash Serum to help them grow longer and fuller as part of my new night time skincare routine. I’ve been using the serum for around 4 weeks and I’ve already noticed a difference in the length of my lashes. You have to use the serum for at least 30 days to see a difference so patience is key in the quest for how to get longer lashes. It’s all about slow and steady wins the race here. It takes between 4 and 6 weeks to see a difference so if you find it take a little longer than 30 days to see a real difference, give it another two weeks. And at the end of the day, lashes are hair and hair grows. We nourish and protect the hair on our head so why wouldn’t we do the same with our lashes?

So let’s talk about what’s in the serum to help make your lashes grow. Well, the serum contains a combination of natural and scientific ingredients that help boost your lashes growth and density. It’s got an ingredient that is well-recognised in vitamins and supplements that helps to promote healthy skin, hair and nails and that is the magic ingredient of Biotin. Biotin, also known as Vitamin B7, is a popular internal supplement for hair growth, hence it makes total sense why the XLash Eyelash serum would contain this key ingredient. Biotin helps improve the condition of your lashes and if they are dry and brittle then this ingredient will really help them to become silky soft.

The other key ingredient is Myristoyl pentapeptide-17 which is a peptide that stimulates keratin production and also helps your lashes get thicker, longer and fuller. And I for one won’t say no to that – longer and thicker lashes all day please.

Xlash is super easy to use as well – you simply apply a thin line of Xlash along the upper lashline once a day. Apply it like you would with an eyeliner and make sure that you’re not getting any product into your eyes. Make sure there is NO mascara residue on your lashes. You can do this either morning or evening – either once in the morning before applying your make-up or once in the evening after cleansing your face. As you already know, I love doing this as part of my night time routine and skincare ritual in the evening, where I take a bit of time for me with some self-care.

Also if you use it as part of your night time skincare routine, then there’s no way to forget to apply it. Using the applicator, apply a thin strip along the line of growth on the upper eyelashes so that it gets to the root of your lashes where it has the best chance of promoting stronger and longer lashes. Once it’s applied, give it a little time to absorb and don’t apply mascara right away. If you do it at the start of your skincare routine, you will give it a bit of time to absorb. That’s why it’s so good to do this at night so it can sit on your clean lashes all night long without being disturbed or inhibited by mascara. Another thing to note is that you don’t need to use this on your lower lashes.

The clinical results from using the Xlash Eyelash Serum are very impressive as well with 70% longer, 33% more volumised and 22% thicker lashes. Another unique benefit of the Xlash Eyelash Serum is that it has colour-enhancing properties so will give your lashes a little natural tint at the same time – making them just a little bit darker. Here are some images of my lashes after using Xlash serum for several weeks.

Something also to note is that I never had any eye irritation from using the serum. Sometimes products that I use that are close to the eye area makes my sensitive eyes water but this product never had that effect, thank goodness. There are no parabens in the formula and it’s also cruelty-free so if you are looking for cruelty-free beauty, add this one to your list.
