February Sweet Treats: Valentine’s Day

Oh February. It’s a bit more promising than January and things start to look up again. The sun doesn’t go down quite so early and there is yet another holiday we can look forward to: Valentine’s Day. I’ve noticed a lot of anti-Valentine’s Day trends this year (more than ever) but I am sticking to my guns and going for all that’s sweet for February. Here are my top sweet treats:

For the hands:

Merumaya Confidensual Handwash

www.merumaya.com

This handwash is perfect for holding hands with your loved one this month – there are none of your usual citrusy notes in this but a more exotic mix of florals and woody scents. This is a gorgeous, almost creamy handwash that leaves your hands feeling soft and scented for hours. The scent of the handwash reminds me of an expensive perfume and I could smell the long-lasting scent on the back of my hands for a couple of hours after washing them. So if anyone is kissing your hand this season of love, make sure it smells lovely!

Odylique by Essential Care Lemon Butter Hand Smoothie

http://www.odylique.co.uk/

What a brilliant name! A hand smoothie sounds like just the thing I want to put on my hands and this certainly smells good enough to eat. Odylique makes natural products and this hand smoothie is 100% natural with no nasties. The active ingredients are antioxidants, hydrating coconut and cocoa butters, avocado, sea buckthorn, soothing aloe and calendula and of course, lemon. Hence, the name ‘Lemon Butter’. This hand cream is quite light for a butter and therefore is not greasy at all, sinks in easily and let’s you get back to things without leaving handprints everywhere! And as we know – no one likes to hold hands with someone who has dry, parched skin.

For the hair:

Satinique Shine Spray

www.amway.co.uk

This is new for January 2015 and it has just landed on my ‘desk’. I love this spray because it isn’t greasy and that’s really important for my fine hair. I sprayed this on after a fresh blow-dry and was happy to say it didn’t leave any greasy strands behind. It is a light finishing mist with a lightweight blend of Argan Oil and Vitamin E. This is great for after a blow-dry or simply to freshen up day-old non-washed hair. And nothing catches another’s eye like soft, shiny hair.

For the face:

Erborian Ginseng BB Crème

http://uk.spacenk.com/erborian/

I have long been a fan of Korean skincare and have been using face masks from Nature Republic and The Face Shop for years, among others. Two trips to Korea have found me lugging back countless new products, many of which were Korean inventions that trickled over to the West. Snail Gel and Snake Viper serum anyone? These have been around in Korea for a long time. So it’s no surprise that they are also the inventors of BB Creme and this one by Erborian has just launched in the UK this year. It is enriched with Ginseng and is a multi-purpose creme that adapts to your natural skin tone and helps even out the skin tone. I like to call this my Sunday cream. It provides lovely, natural coverage that you can just smooth on and go. I don’t like to wear much make-up on the weekends unless I am going out so for daytime wear this is perfect for me. I look forward to trying more of Erborian’s products! And as I have heard from many, natural is always best so feel confidence in how you look naturally this Valentine’s Day!
