Putting a ‘Spring’ Into Your Step: Springtime Favourites

The sun is peeking out from the clouds and the smell of spring is in the air. I am dusting off winter and embracing all things spring with classic favourites and new additions too!

I am all about the skin and am getting ready for glowing skin for the summer with Slimcha Skin Glow 14 Day Teatox. This tea is light, refreshing and lovely – not to mention when you drink it you feel like you are doing something good for your body. The tea bags also last and last. I topped up my cup several times and the flavour is long-lasting. Slimcha does a wide variety of teatox programmes for different needs: detoxing, slimming down, glowing skin, etc. You can bet that your body will be happy you did it.

Easter break is coming and if you are going anywhere for the long weekend, Clarins has made the best travel mini kit ever! It contains all the cult beauty products we all know and love (hello Beauty Flash Balm, I am talking to you!) in perfect travel sizes. When I say perfect travel sizes I mean that these are not going to run out on you in three days. These will last you a good two weeks so whether you are going somewhere for a few days or longer,  you won’t run out.

The Clarins Travel Minis Bag contains Beauty Flash Balm, HydraQuench Cream, Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser, Instant Eye Make-up Remover, HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase and Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm.

So as you can see, it pretty much covers all your skincare needs. And of course while I love to mix and match products sometimes it’s good to just stick with a consistent routine for two weeks as all the products within a range will work together harmoniously. So breakouts be gone – this is your kit for spring break.

Another handy skincare product to pack if you are going away? DHC Face Powder. I have been itching to try this – it’s one of my favourite brands from Japan and they always make simply good products. So how do you use a face powder that’s not make-up? You simply apply it to a damp face and it transforms into a lather. It also contains enzymes that help dissolve dead skin cells. This is super convenient to use if you are going away for a weekend – it’s lightweight and small enough to put in your handbag. And of course as I always say, it doesn’t count as a liquid at airport security!

Another classic favourite I love to use when the weather gets warmer is La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water. This is a refreshing mist that you can spray on your face at any time of the day. I keep one desk side at all times to perk me up, especially during an afternoon lull. La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo is also a fantastic face cream. It’s great for sensitive skin and reduces the appearance of acne scars and spot marks, while preventing new ones from occurring. And if you are planning to embrace the ‘no make-up’ make-up look this spring, you will definitely want to make sure you have a flawless canvas to work with.

Ooh body care – nothing smells of spring more than than Narcissus, i.e. daffodils! Italian plant-based beauty brand, L’Erbolario is launching its Narciso Sublime range just in time for spring. The Narcissus flowers bloom before all other flowers and they ‘shake their stars’ at the fresh March wind to greet the arrival of spring. Making gorgeous body creams in the scent of daffodils is quite unique I must say. The L’ Erbolario Narcissus Scented Body Talc Cream and L’ Erbolario Narcissus Scented Body Cream are dreamy, creamy and richly nourishing.

As you can see below, the consistency of the Body Cream is thick and rich and it smells lovely.

The Talc Cream is a new concept and one I haven’t seen before – refreshing and highly perfumed, this offers the moisturising and nourishing properties of a light-textured cream with the refreshing and softening benefits of traditional talcum powder. Remember the dusting powders your grandmother used to use? Well this is a dusting powder in a cream form, with all the benefits of each!

I like to embrace my natural side when the weather gets warmer and that means really enhancing my naturally wavy hair. Boucleme is a new brand to hit the curly hair market and is targeted to people with naturally very curly or wavy hair. The products contain natural ingredients and are eco-certified. They have no chemical nasties in them – which is great for curly haired people as there are not many natural products geared towards curly hair. I have the travel kit which contains: Boucleme Curl Cleanser, Boucleme Curl Conditioner and Boucleme Curl Defining Gel.

If you heard all the talk about co-washing than you will feel something familiar with the Curl Cleanser in this range as it is a no foam cleanser. It is much like a co-wash in the fact that it doesn’t strip hair and leaves it feeling very nourished. I can see why this would be a saviour to course, curly hair. I have fine, wavy hair so I found that the product that worked the best for me in this range was actually the Curl Defining Gel. Sometimes my waves need freshening up on a no-wash day and I hate using hairspray so was happy to find this (as it contains no nasties). I simply run it through my hair with my fingers and scrunch it so the waves are enhanced.

Spring is all about fresh starts and glowing skin and so it seems only right that I talk about Fashion Fair Illuminating Powder. I have tried other highlighting powders before that I didn’t really like because they left me with an almost fake sheen. I really like this Fashion Fair one because it feels natural and only leaves the slightest glow where you need it. Absolutely perfect for summer!
