Antipodes is a green dream. It’s true! This little cracker of a beauty brand from New Zealand is a natural brand, with some of its products being 100% organic! Everything from the metal tube retro packaging of the cleansers, hand creams and face masks to the powerhouse of plant-based ingredients in the ranges is something to get excited about.
So let’s talk through some of my favourites. First off is the Heavenly Body Oil. This contains a host of rich, healthy oils such as avocado and macadamia and it feels like you are slathering yourself in pure goodness if you apply it after a shower when you are nice and clean. Skin needs essential oils both inside and out. Fats are no longer bad and oils are our friend. So slather away folks – because this oil is truly heavenly. Put it on before bed for a truly relaxing experience (contains lavender)!
I love the metal tube packaging of the Aura Manuka Honey Mask, Delight Hand & Body Cream and the Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator. The branding is clean and these metal tubes will simply just look cool inside your bathroom.
I love that the Delight cream is for both hands and body as this keeps things simple and just lessens the need for one more product to clutter your shelf. I take this on holidays with me as it fits nicely in my carry-on.
The Aura Manuka Honey Mask…well, if you don’t know about the benefits of manuka honey I am here to tell you. Manuka honey is antibacterial, so it’s great for acne-prone skin. I have heard some stories of people smearing manuka honey all over their face to treat acne and for them it actually works. I haven’t tried it myself but the Aura Manuka Honey Mask will take you one step closer to this, without the mess of actual honey. Makuka is also really moisturising and has been shown to increase collagen. What’s not to love?
One product I really love from Antipodes is the Reincarnation Facial Exfoliator. This is a very gentle exfoliator but it’s not a wimp. I can’t stand wimpy exfoliators and this one is strong enough without being too harsh. I use it every single day at the end of the day so it’s great for removing make-up as well. This is not a scrub, as it contains jojoba beads which is a more gentle exfoliator – so for sensitive skin this would be a great choice.
While we are on the topic of cleansers, I like to use a different one for the day and a different one for the morning. The Grapeseed Butter Cleanser is a joy to use in the morning.
As you can see from the below image, the consistency is thick and creamy, almost like butter. As your face won’t be that dirty when you wake up (as long as you properly cleansed it the night before), this is a great cleanser to use as it won’t strip the skin of its natural oil so it still has some protection on it when you go out into the big, bad world and get an onslaught of environmental aggressors thrown at it!
Last but certainly not least if you are going to take care of your skin with proper skincare, you should go the extra mile and use nice make-up too! Antipodes has a range of mineral foundations (much like bareMinerals) that are natural and that you buff on and build up to a level of coverage that suits you. I am using the Pale Pink (on the left side in the below image) which I actually use as a finishing powder for extra coverage on top of my BB cream during the week and then on its own on the weekends for lighter coverage. It works a dream!
The translucent powder (on the below right side) is an actual finishing powder and it stays put and won’t clog pores!
