SkinCeuticals is a cult beauty brand that is well-known for the results it brings. Beauty editors and beauty aficionados around the world rave about this U.S. brand and it’s not a coincidence. These are incredibly advanced skincare products backed by science.
I attended an event at Omniya Health & Beauty Medispa Clinic in Knightsbridge where I was able to try the SkinCeuticals range for myself and learn about the launch of the AOX Lip Complex. This restorative complex for the lips is a bit of a wonder in itself. It’s great for really dry lips or ageing lips.
We often forget about our lips, necks and hands when thinking about anti-ageing so it’s great that SkinCeuticals has come up with an anti-ageing treatment for the lips. Lip skin is 200x more sensitive than your fingertips so must be truly treated with care. Also did you know that no two lip impressions are exactly alike? So treat yours nicely!
This little beauty arrived just at the right time as well, when my lips were feeling a bit dry after a trip to Morocco. Even after using this for just one day, my lips felt a lot more hydrated and bounced back quickly after the trip. Lips lose fullness as we get older, as does the rest of our face so this is a great product if you want to maintain those full lips!
Lips also contain no sebaceous glands so they need constant moisture. Saliva is the only source of moisture but this leads to chapping and dryness. Lips are also more prone to ageing because they contain no melanin so there is no protection from UV exposure. This is why it is so important to choose lipsticks and lip products with SPF! So what makes AOX tick? Well the formula contains antioxidants in the form of Vitamin E and Silymarin, humectants and emollients made up of hyaluronic acid, hydroxyethyl urea and glycerin as well as botanical emollients to help hydrate and smooth.
At the event I was also able to get a skin analysis with the experienced team at Omniya and speak to them about my skin concerns. They in turn recommended me a full treatment plan using SkinCeuticals products with the aim to prevent, protect and correct which I had no complaints with. So what did they recommend?
So for the morning I was recommended to use the Simply Clean cleanser and Equalizing Toner (not shown). SkinCeauticals products work in synergy so it’s better to use them all together for the full effect rather than mixing and matching with other brands.
Once my face is cleansed I turn to the AOX + Eye Gel for prevention of fine lines around the eyes, where I am showing the first signs of ageing.
The AOX Eye Gel is a little powerhouse. It has a gel-like formula which sinks into the skin rapidly and feels cool and refreshing. What it does is reinforce the skin’s natural protection against free radicals so it’s great to use during the day to protect from environmental aggressors. The skin around the eyes is ten times thinner than other facial skin, and is more prone to damage than other skin on the face. Sun exposure and a lifetime of facial expressions contribute to aging changes.
The eye gel has a orange tint (below) but sinks into skin like a dream and the gel consistency is lovely.
I was also recommended to use the Phloretin CF Gel in the morning. This is a broad-spectrum topical Vitamin C serum that again helps to protect skin against harmful free radicals that attack skin during the day. Very important to use!
Again the gel-formula is great for absorption into the skin and the serum-in-a-gel technology allows ingredients to be formulated in an acidic gel matrix to provide slower delivery to the skin. So think of this as an infusion that is drip-feeding your skin with protection throughout the day.
Another powerhouse of a product for the day is the C E Ferulic (I love these scientific names!). This contains 15% Vitamin C, 1% Tocopherol and 0.5% Ferulic Acid. Again this is like the Wall of China when it comes to protection against attackers. It simply helps skin reinforce its natural protection against free radicals while tackling wrinkles and dark spots at the same time. This is great for hyperpigmented skin or those with acne scars. Highly recommended!
So what about for the evening? The evening skincare routine should be about correction and repair. So to tackle those pesky lines around the eyes I was recommended a SkinCeuticals Eye Balm. This really helps with dehydration lines (which is what I have) and hydrates the eye area so it looks plumper. I’ve been incredibly impressed with this product. The fine lines under my eyes have definitely smoothed out and look more ‘filled out’. I LOVE this!
A little of this Eye Balm will go a long way as well. Just dab it on at night under the eye and on the top of the eyelid and rest easy knowing those lines are being tackled while you are sleeping.
Last but certainly not least you need a serum for the night. This Resveratrol B E Antioxidant Night Concentrate is a superhero. Again this is your night defence that is chock full of antioxidants to protect against free radicals. This also helps to make skin more radiant and dense. I have definitely noticed that my skin looks clearer from using this.
Now while SkinCeuticals products are not cheap, they do actually work. Some people like to spend money on bags, new clothes, holidays, etc. and scrimp elsewhere. I like to invest in my skin because as they say, your face is the window to the world and you only have one!
