Okay, I will admit I’ve jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon. I saw the movie over Christmas and was really impressed and with the slew of Star Wars-inspired lipsticks and make-up coming out I had to get my hands on some. You see, when you want to play with make-up and really bold, crazy colours of lipsticks sometimes you don’t want to spend a fortune. Because if you are like me, you can’t exactly rock a black, grey, white, purple or even white (yes there is a lipstick called Storm Trooper!) lip in the office (as much as I would like to).
However, it doesn’t mean I can’t rock these kinds of lipsticks to parties, weekends or special occasions. So when I saw that recently launched Freedom Make-Up (creators of professional, affordable make-up from the same guys who make Make-Up Revolution) had an AMAZING range of lipsticks (including Star Wars-inspired colours) I had to get my hands on some of them. And let me tell you that these lipsticks only cost £1 pound each and come in a set of five. Yes, five full-size lipsticks for £5!
I chose to try three Pro Lipstick Kits: The Vamp Collection (all dark reds, berry shades and even a black lipstick), the Pink Collection (pretty pink and rose shades) and Far Away Collection (inspired by Star Wars with a grey, white, purple, gold and dark navy blue). Each set comes with 5 lipsticks – amazing value.
My biggest lipstick inspiration is Rihanna. That girl can rock a purple lip, vampy black lip, orange lip or a blue lip. Seriously, that woman is my lipstick inspiration. But the problem I have always run into is where can you find these kind of crazy colours that are affordable? I’ve chosen a few of my favourites from the Freedom collection to show you…
First off is this gold colour – I mean who has gold lipstick? It’s amazing. It actually leaves a very nice metallic sheen on your lips and isn’t too overpowering. It’s called Space Luxe and I found you can even layer it over another colour for a lovely sheen.
Next up is a purple in Far Away. I LOVE this colour – really unique and Rihanna-esque. I would totally wear this on the weekends or in the evenings.
Next is a classic red in Pure Vamp – beautiful for everyday glamour!
I LOVE the dark, vampy colour below in Intense Noir. It looks almost black when you see it but when you put it on it’s more of a very dark purple.
From the pink collection I love the Candy Sweet – below. I actually used it with the Far Away lipstick to create almost an ombre lip (below).
Besides lipsticks, Freedom has a range of strobing and contouring kits as well. I don’t think anything on the entire site is over £20. I’ve also got the Pro Contour Shaped Stick which has a highlighter on one end and a bronzer on the other. As you can see from the below image it is very easy to simply draw on the lines where you need them and then blend in.
Freedom also makes a Strobe Cream which can be used under your make-up as an illuminator or over your make-up for extra highlighting. I tried both with this one and found I liked it over the make-up more (but can also be used as a primer).
So all in all I would definitely recommend the lipsticks if you want to go crazy or keep it simple – either way you get super duper value with anything you buy!
