Contouring and sculpting have forever entered our lives ever since Kim Kardashian posted THAT picture. And the trend is going nowhere in fact, it’s still going on! So for anyone out there who is after that sculpted look you are going to be really excited by L’Oreal’s newest launches for March 2016! I was lucky enough to manage to get to test them out before they hit stores – in fact every product from the Infallible Sculpt range in this post will launch in March 2016 except the False Lash Sculpt Mascara which became available from January 2016. So here’s to a first look!
It’s been ages since I have covered L’Oreal Paris cosmetics so I was excited to see what they have in store for this spring. And let me tell you, it’s all about the perfect sculpt. Sculpting is great, it can sharpen and enhance our features so that we look like a better version of ourselves. And the products in this new collection are foolproof – seriously. I am not the most proficient at sculpting but these products contain instructions for how to use them which is brilliant because you simply cannot mess it up! So let’s see what we have here…

First up let’s talk about lips. I am really, really excited about these Infallible Matte Max Designer Lip Pens. They all have cool names like Disturbia, I Gotta Feeling, Like a Virgin, etc. Also, I have been on the lookout for a lip stain like the ones I found in South Korea when I picked up a load of them. These are really gorgeous – they give that ‘I just bit my lip’ kind of look – really natural stains. The colours are all really buildable as well so you can go from a light stain to more intense pigment. The texture is almost powdery and it stays put as well.

See how natural they look when on (below)? I gently applied mine so that it was just a hint of colour but these look amazing on.

Next up are brows and I LOVE these Sculpt Brow Artist pens. They are really multi-tasking with a brush to smooth and groom brows into place and also an applicator tip that is shaped like a cone to draw your eyebrows into shape. And you can’t get a sculpted look right without the right brows!

The first step is to draw the curve of your eyebrow with the cone-shaped tip and then use the brush to fill in the brows and comb them into place. Honestly this double step approach is brilliant.

I was really happy with the results of the brown pens (below).

So what about the sculpting part of this whole thing? Well, I’m about to tell you! Sculpting can’t really be pulled off without the perfect base so L’Oreal have thought of everything with their Infallible Sculpt Base Foundation. I was really pleased with the consistency and texture of this base. The formula is really creamy and sinks in perfectly. I patted mine in and the Light/Medium shade matched my skin tone perfectly.

Once you’ve got the base down the fun part comes – the actual sculpting! I really, really am impressed with the Infallible Sculpt Palette. It comes in Light/Medium or Medium/Dark and in the palette is a creamy, matte contouring powder and a sheer highlighter.

My favourite part about this duo is that there is no shimmer or sparkles in the formula which I really appreciate because I think it makes make-up look too fake.
So how do you apply it? Well luckily there are step-by-step instructions but you can see my attempt (below) on where exactly you are supposed to contour. This little manual is really useful!

Once you have used the Sculpt Palette you use a bit of the Infallible Sculpt Blush to top it all off. The texture of this is also really lovely. So really after that there is only one thing left…

The next step is obviously mascara! The False Lash Sculpt Mascara (available now) is really interesting and like nothing I’ve seen before. Looks right out of the space age with the technologically advanced comb brush.

This is a one-sided comb brush that really grabs lashes from the very root and pushes them up and helps make the tight-lining trend a bit easier (where the lash is lined at root level). This really pushed up my lashes and gave me some serious volume.

So what was the final result? As you can see below there is subtle contouring (these pictures are as is, not retouched at all so you can see what this looks like on a real face). I really like how the formula is so easy to blend and makes contouring so easy. Highly recommended for anyone, especially a beginner!
