Okay how many of you are taking a city break this summer? I reckon quite a few and with that Glossybox is one step ahead and has launched their City Breaks box for May! When I think of beauty for a city break I want convenience but I also want to look good. So what’s inside the Glossybox City Breaks Box this month? Come along and I will show you!
For a city break this summer, you may go somewhere where it’s warm so with that you definitely need sun protection. I will harp on about it but seriously, use it! If you are out and about in the city you still need to wear sunscreen. I love this Hawaiian Tropic Protective Dry Oil. Why? Because it’s a dry oil. It’s not greasy, oily or any of those things so you can swipe it on in a jiffy and go. It doubles as a moisturiser as well so you have more time for sightseeing. SPF 15 is great for just being out and about in the city and the formula contains a blend of cocoa butter, coconut oil and vitamin C to nourish skin. A must-have for summer!
I find that when I go on a city break I always need to carry a snack in my bag. Well, actually I always carry a snack in my bag. And I want my snack to be healthy, thank you. I’m American and I’ve been eating popcorn for ages (did you know popcorn is actually quite low-calorie when you don’t add all the butter?). I’ve been popping corn since my teen days so it makes perfect sense to add this Proper Corn popcorn in the bag. I’m a big fan already – they have amazing flavours and this lightly sea salted variety is good for beginners. And like I said before popcorn is actually quite low-calorie – this bag has only 43 calories!
Next up is a Bee Good Youth Enhancing Plump & Firm Moisturiser. This British brand is just the bees’ knees (sorry I couldn’t resist) and this moisturiser will easily last 3 days or so while you are jet-setting off to a new city. This is a plumping moisturiser so if you are aiming for the ‘I slept 10 hours every night on holiday’ look then this is the one for you.
Okay so the next product in the box is a new one for me from Absolute New York. This is the Velvet Lippie which got me by the name. I’m really into matte lip creams these days so was intrigued. This is a very pretty, girly summer colour in a light bubble-gum pink – great for festival looks. I was impressed with the pigment and I used mine over my Burt’s Bees lip crayon in a similar colour and it was like a match made in heaven!
I’ve been absolutely itching to get my hands on these new Revlon mascaras so was thrilled to see the Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara in this May Glossybox. Revlon have repackaged their entire range of mascaras to make it easier for consumers to find what they are looking for. I think it’s a really good idea because it very clearly states on each of the repackaged mascaras what they will do. This one is all about definition, hence the name Dramatic Definition. I really liked this because it separated the lashes and pushed them up. I’ve got it in my make-up bag right at this moment! Lovely lift to the lashes and really defines each ‘lash’ – just as it says it will.
Last but certainly not least is hair. I use these hair bobbles every single day – they are brilliant! If you don’t have any you must get some and thank me later. The hair bands in this month’s City Breaks box are from Hairon – the Zero Crease Hair Tie to be exact. I love the girly pink colour as well. Perfect for the beach or for everyday. And most certainly for a city break where the wind could be whipping through your hair or it could be hot…there could be a multitude of reasons why you need a hair bobble!
