Lancôme holds a special place in my memory because it was the first luxury set of skincare (and cushion foundation) I ever indulged in. How it came about was that I spent over three months travelling around Africa by overland truck on safari. I camped every day of that time and spent a lot of time in the strong African sun. By the end of the trip, my skin wasn’t very happy with me – it was dry, parched and I had noticed new fine lines that had cropped up suddenly. Overnight I appeared 10 years older!
Naturally I was freaked out so went out to purchase some serious skincare to rectify the damage. I bought a full set of Lancôme products and used them religiously and within a few weeks my skin had returned to being bouncy, hydrated and thankfully normal. And hence I turned to Lancôme whose Genefique Serum I have been a long-time fan of.
That’s why I’m so excited to revisit the Advanced Genefique Serum after all this time because after a recent long haul flight and a month of stress I am definitely noticing that my skin is reverting back to that post-African Safari stage. So Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate to the rescue it is! I love this serum because it really works as I’ve mentioned in regards to the African safari trip. It also sinks in easily and a little goes a long way – I remember using mine sparingly with good results.
Another Lancôme classic I love is the Tonique Eclat Clarifying Exfoliating Toner. This was the first toner I ever used and I often use it just to remove make-up before cleansing or in the morning without cleansing. It’s refreshing and soothing and preps the skin for further skincare application – i.e. Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate.
Some new products from Lancôme which I am really excited about include the Lancôme Blush Subtil Cushion Blusher. I am a huge, huge fan of cushion foundations and cushion products in general, having spent quite a bit of time in South Korea where the cushion foundation originates. Cushion products give such nice, natural coverage and are applied in the way make-up is supposed to be applied – with a damp sponge. The new Lancôme cushion blush I love – it gives a dewy glow and again, due to the cushion you are going to get a natural flushed look. I tend to overdue it on the blush so this is a great way to keep things natural. A little goes a long way!
And in the spirit of all things cushion I love the Lancôme Cushion Foundation – Teint Idole Ultra Cushion to be exact. Lancôme was the first Western brand to bring the cushion foundation to market and if you haven’t discovered the joys of a cushion foundation please do try them!
I tend to overdo it on make-up in general which gets me told off by my other half so it’s nice to use a cushion foundation as it gives very natural coverage so that you get that ‘skin’ look but not ultra HD look. You can also build up the coverage with a cushion foundation but I like to keep them as they are meant to – minimal and natural.
Another relatively new product that Lancôme has recently launched is the Energy de Vie Foam Cleanser. This is a naturally derived cleanser that helps take off pollutants and city grime. This is great for city dwellers in particular due to the recent warnings on pollution and how much damage that it causes to skin. I also like a foam cleanser because I find that it removes make-up the best. I like to use a foam cleanser in the evening at the end of the day to get rid of make-up, pollutants and dirt. I love the smell of the Lancôme Energy de Vie Foam Cleanser as well – it’s really fresh and clean.
Last but not least is the classic Lancôme Grandiose Liner for the perfect feline flick. So Parisian – I love it. And it’s waterproof!
