A Sensitive Skin Hero

I’ve been wanting to try Paula’s Choice for ages as I’ve heard such great things about the products. I first heard about the brand last summer with the Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment and then saw it pop up in South Korea on my travels and have been curious ever since. Now Paula’s Choice has recently launched a range called Calm – Redness Relief which is specifically for sensitive skin so just be aware that if you suffer from rosacea or have super sensitive skin, this might be a great read for you! Even if your skin gets red and irritated due to environment this range might well suit you too. And no matter what skin type you are (even if you are sensitive) – from dry to oily – this range is specifically targeted to work on all skin types.

Paula's Choice has recently launched a range called Calm - Redness Relief

I will go through the range according to the order in which it should be used so first up let’s start with the Paula’s Choice Redness Relief Toner. Now this is not your typical toner that you would think of. How it is different is that it is a milky-based toner that is super gentle for irritated skin. Think of that dry, scratchy uncomfortable skin feeling (I get this on long-haul flights) and this is a great product to tackle that feeling. It’s pH balanced and doesn’t have any fragrance or colourants in it either. Use this after cleansing to restore and soothe skin before the next step.

The next step in your skincare regimen with the Calm range is the Paula’s Choice Redness Relief Repairing Serum. This will go on after the toner (as mentioned above). This is a fantastic serum because I don’t know many serums out there that are particularly developed for rosacea-prone, easily irritated or sensitive skin. Again with long-haul flights and environmental factors like cold weather, my skin can quickly become irritated. This serum absorbs super quick and offers instant relief. It also helps with the skin’s protective barrier too and is packed full of glycerin, hyaluronic acid and a whole host of antioxidants.

And once you have applied the serum and given it a few minutes to absorb it’s time to apply the Paula’s Choice Redness Relief Moisturizer. This moisturiser is really lightweight and not greasy at all. This is also suitable to use whether you have normal skin or oily skin. I love that the moisturiser has a pH level which is listed as 6 and again this is fragrance and colourant free. Sometimes when my skin has had too much stimulation I like to go back to something really simple that I know won’t irritate my skin any further. This is the range that will do it!

And for an anti-ageing routine (not for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin) I also want to recommend a few more Paula’s Choice products. I’ve recently been using the Paula’s Choice Resist Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser. I love a foaming cleanser and this one is a good one! It basically just removes all make-up and oil without stripping the skin and it’s great for combo skin like mine. This is a cream to foam formula so works well to remove all the grime at the end of the day!

I’ve got combo skin and also concerned about anti-ageing so I would also recommend Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. This one has Retinol so it’s not suitable for rosacea-prone or sensitive skin but if you are worried about ageing then a product with retinol is going to really help. Retinol is a form of vitamin A which communicates with cells to improve ‘behaviour’ and it’s a great weapon in the fight against ageing! This serum feels really silky and lovely on the skin and it works to improve the appearance of discolouration, wrinkles and sun damage.

And last but not least in my arsenal of Paula’s Choice products I’ve got my hands on the Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion with Salicylic Acid. This is a leave-on exfoliant that targets the skin’s surface and deep down to clear away dead skin cells and unclog pores. It reduces redness, increases cell turnover and increases collagen production. This is GREAT for blemish-prone skin. A really fantastic product and couldn’t rave about it more! If you like Alpha H Liquid Gold you will love this one.
