Let’s be serious – January is a bit dull. The festivities of Christmas are over, the sparkle turned to dust and the days are short, dark and a bit gloomy. Let’s face it – the holidays are over. So it was a welcome surprise this month to receive a very tongue-in-cheek Glossybox who have collaborated with Bella Younger – known as ‘Deliciously Stella’- who is all things anti-diet. In this box is the ‘Edible Edit’ which include all things superfood – for the face! The idea is to let yourself indulge in a bit of the naughty stuff (chocolate anyone?) and leave the good stuff for your face. So let’s dig in shall we?
First up we have the Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser. We all know kale is great for your body but it’s also been a hot ingredient that has been popping up in the beauty world this year. This is a moisturiser that contains kale, watercress and almond oil so it’s really nourishing and great for the winter if you have dehydrated skin! This is really rich and nourishing – makes a great night cream. And you can never, ever go wrong with extra moisturiser.
Now a girl can never have enough eyeshadow so The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Single Eyeshadow (I’ve got a purple colour that reminds me of aubergine/eggplant) was a welcome addition. You can use it wet or dry and it’s the cutest and tiniest size I’ve seen so you can toss it in the handbag to use whenever you want to create a smoky eye for the evening. Day to night in the blink of an eye – literally.
I’ve really changed my cleansing habits this year and moved from really harsh cleansers to gentle, soothing cleansers and I’ve noticed a big difference that it has made to my skin. My skin looks more ‘glowy’ when I am gentler to my skin. I am really excited to use this Unani Illuminate Milk Cleanser because it fits in with my ‘be kind to yourself’ philosophy this year. And be kind to yourself means be kind to your skin too!
On cold nights I like to stay in, get Netflix going and relax with a sheet mask. No one does a sheet mask better than the Koreans and this Vitamasques Manuka Honey Mask does not disappoint. Manuka Honey is super nourishing and also anti-bacterial so good for people who are prone to breaking out. Netflix and chill, here I come…
Baby it’s cold outside! That’s never truer than in January and I love an all-purpose balm to carry around. I love the look of the True Organic of Sweden All You Need Is Me! All Purpose Balm that is included in this month’s Glossybox because I have never heard of the brand before so it’s a new discovery! This is an organic balm and doesn’t contain any nasty ingredients and again, this resonates with my ‘be kind to yourself’ strategy this year. You can use it as a hair mask to a cuticle cream to a lip gloss – a true multi-tasker!
