I’ve got spring on my mind this weekend if you can’t already tell! Elizabeth Taylor once said, ‘I can’t start the day without perfume’ and I couldn’t agree more. You can actually find out a lot about a woman by just knowing what kind of scents she likes. Fragrance is personal and I have a wardrobe of fragrances that I use for every mood. Somedays I’m feeling playful, others empowered. Some days I want to feel pretty, other days sexy. I’ve pulled together a spring fragrance edit that I really hope you will like. These fragrances have all been thoughtfully chosen and are each special in their own right.
First up I bet you didn’t think I was going to be including a men’s fragrance in this edit did you? But yes, yes I am. I actually love to wear some men’s fragrances myself and this Versace Eros is one of them. It’s also fresh and sexy for a man – perfect for warmer weather when you want a bit more of something freshly scented. It’s super sexy as well. I want to wear it and I want my man to wear it too. It smells incredible. In fact I’m pretty sure I sprayed my scarf with it so I could be wrapped up in the sexy scent of this manly fragrance. This is a fresh, oriental and woody fragrance that is the kind of fragrance that women go wild over if men wear. So women take note (and men take note too).
The bottle is a stunning blue glass and looks and feels luxurious. Great as a gift for him – it will certainly go down well.
Next up we have the female counterpart of the Versace Eros in the form of Versace Eros Por Femme. Now if you want to smell like the sexiest couple around seriously – this is the pair! Versace says Eros Femme captures ‘the primal power of a woman and her radiant, sensual essence.’ Well I wouldn’t argue with the Italians over that one. Again this is a really fresh scent for spring with an added dash of sexy. The fragrance opens up with a citrus burst of Sicilian lemon and mandarin fused with raspberry and white currant. Then this moves to a heady floral melody of freesia, magnolia, orange blossom and jasmine. The dash of sexy comes at the end with white patchouli, wood, musk and ambrox. Who says spring can’t be sexy? With a bit of bare shoulders and this misted over the tops of them you will be feeling sexy in no time.
If you like fragrances that are a little bit warmer as opposed to fresh then I’ve got one for you. The Aerin Tangier Vanille smells like warm vanilla drizzled over a piece of white cake. It’s a beautiful scent and I really like the 50ml sized bottle with the precious stone cap. This is one of those dressing table fragrances – it just looks that pretty. It also smells warm and soothing – think sweet but sexy. This is an understated sweetness with top notes of Italian Bergamot and Bulgarian Rose together with amber. The inspiration behind the fragrance is of Tangier – think exotic botanical gardens, majestic palaces and the legendary bazaars. When I first tried this I found it irresistible and now I’m wearing it nearly every day. This is not only for spring, but one for all seasons.
Oh you are in for a treat with this next one! The Salvatore Ferragamo Limited Edition Signorina In Rosso has to win for best presentation – just look at the box below that it comes in. This is a very special fragrance indeed – it launched over Christmas as a limited edition but you can still find it at Debenhams HERE. This is a truly beautiful fragrance – okay yes I love it for the presentation and packaging but also THE SCENT. This is feminine in a bottle if you ask me – it’s a beautiful floral scent with currant spiced by fresh pink pepper. It’s incredibly uplifting and although it launched over Christmas as a limited edition I think it’s perfect for spring due to its jubilant character. It’s chic and feminine at the same time with jasmine, rose peony and topped with the sweetness of panacotta (yes really) with woody patchouli notes. I love patchouli in fragrance – I think it gives a deep and sexy character. This is for a woman in charge – one who is feminine but a girl boss at the same time.
Up next we have everything playful with Lacoste’s newest fragrance for women – the L.12.12 Pour Elle. I love the playful pink bottle and again, great for spring due to the cheerful nature of this fragrance. This is a bit lighter and younger than some of the other fragrances mentioned in this post – think sparkling and fruity. The fragrance is inspired by the pleated skirt – freedom to move and timeless modernity. The Lacoste woman is meant to be natural and elegant with a sparkling playfulness. I do think that ‘sparkling playfulness’ pretty much hits the nail on the head with this fragrance. If you like fruity fragrances then this is the one for you with top notes of Red Apple, Mandarin and Blackberries and heart notes of Cotton Candy, Accord and Lily of the Valley. This is not a serious fragrance by any means but would be good for warmer days in the sun. The base notes of the fragrance round out with Vetyver, Cashmere wood and blackberries.
A very unique and interesting fragrance I have recently come across is Lola James Harper Together is Always Better. The first thing that hit my nose with this one was cinnamon. I can sniff out cinnamon like a hunting dog on the prowl. This is a spicy fragrance and it’s very different so I have to give it kudos for that. The notes in this fragrance are comprised of Green tea, Jasmine, Rosemary, Violet, Gaiac wood, Cinnamon. As I said it’s a spicy fragrance, with the cinnamon and the rosemary really popping out in this. Once it settles on the skin however it evens out and becomes a bit more rounded out. This really does smell of spring and greenery to be exact. Think fresh grass with spicy woody notes and you’ve got it. This is definitely a fragrance not everyone will have so it can be very much uniquely yours.
