When the seasons change over, so does your wardrobe. And there is no better season than spring to update! I love the feeling of spring when you bare your legs for the first time. The breeze always feels so nice on bare skin and you forget the feeling after the long, grey London winter. And it’s glorious! I love spring and summer for the chance to finally break out my spring dresses or better yet, invest in new ones. I’ve picked my favourite dresses for spring and have chosen my top three, all tried and tested this week!
For my first look I’ve chosen a very Victoria Beckham style of dress – the Black Tie Waist Kimono Wrap Dress from Closet London, who make and design all of their dresses in London. Now this is quite a rare thing so when we talk about keeping it local! This dress is from their new R.S.V.P. collection which is a curated collection of occasion wear dresses that you can wear to a party, work or a formal occasion. Seriously, I LOVE this dress. It fits perfectly and looks so chic. It fits loosely but it hugs just in the right way. Like the saying goes, wear your clothes loose enough to show you’re a lady but also tight enough in all the right places to show you’re a woman. I hope that makes sense.
As the weather is kind of unpredictable right now I’ve paired the dress with a crisp white open coat from ASOS and some leopard print kitten heels from Vince Camuto which I love. I wore this dress to a few meetings and got so many compliments. It screams GIRLBOSS in all the right ways! And the great thing about this look is that you can take it from work to a cocktail party. It’s definitely something that Victoria Beckham would wear and we all know despite the fact she never smiles, she has impeccable taste.
The dress has a tie belt and is a mock wrap – meaning it looks like a wrap dress but is secured so it’s not going to fly open on you! I never in any way felt exposed in this dress – the slit by the knee is perfectly positioned to be sexy enough without being too sexy.
The best thing about this dress is the feeling it gave me – I felt pulled together, chic and ready to face anything in style!
The back has a gold zipper that’s easy to zip up and then you are ready to face the day.
My next favourite dress for spring also comes from Closet London – okay I’m obsessed! The reason I love the dresses from this brand so much is that they are really good quality. Every dress fit really well, the quality was fabulous and I was basically really pleased overall. You know when you order something online and it arrives and you are like mehhhhh. Well, this did not happen with this collection! The next dress is the Pale Pink Lantern Sleeve Pep Hem Dress and it’s so so pretty! This reminds me of something from the roaring 20s with the peplum hem (I’ve been watching a lot of Boardwalk Empire these days so I was inspired by the ladies of that era).
I paired the dress with simple accessories in terms of jewellery with a Pandora necklace and my rose gold Abbott Lyon watch. In regards to bag and shoes I wanted them to have a bit of pop to them so I chose my leopard-print Aspinal of London Mini Trunk Clutch in Ivory & Zebra Haircalf and again you can see my Vince Camuto kitten heels in leopard which I am obsessed with. So, yes so I paired leopard-print with zebra-print – they live in the wild together so why not? And sometimes you are meant to break the rules in fashion. I like that the accessories give this dress a bit of an edge but you could also go the other way and add pearls and nude heels for a very classy look.
And I’ve also added a pair of Chanel sunglasses to this look just because you can’t get much classier than Chanel and I really think that this dress would be perfect for an afternoon tea, spring wedding or a day at the races. The fluted sleeves and the rounded hem give a feminine touch to this dress and the dress not only looks pretty but it makes you feel pretty too.
And for my third dress pick I’ve gone for a more casual springtime look with the Lilac Wide Sleeve Tie Front Frill Hem Dress from Closet London. This dress is more casual than the other two so it’s perfect for everyday wear – out with friends, on a date, in the park or at a restaurant. It’s also light and airy and I absolutely love the wide sleeves on this – very on trend at the moment.
The dress is ultra-feminine and the lilac shade is perfect for the spring season. I am loving pastels at the moment and with the brighter light this is a great shade to sport.
The dress is ultra-feminine and keeps it classy being below the knee with the length. I love the ruched waistband to add definition to the figure and the frill hem also gives an added twist.
