Seeing as this week is Organic Beauty & Wellbeing week I’ve been inspired to do a ‘green beauty’ post. And while some of these products that I have picked to be my favourite green beauty buys this week are not certified organic (some are though) many of them use 100% natural ingredients in their products. I love that green beauty and organic beauty is becoming more and more popular and that the industry has really stepped up their game – many using plant actives that are incredibly and scientifically effective. So on that note, here are some of my favourite green beauty brands and products!
Okay so it’s time to SAVE THE BEES! Burt’s Bees have just launched this limited edition Coconut & Pear Lip Balm and with the purchase of one they will plant 5,000 bee-friendly wildflower seeds. The bees are diminishing in population every year so the more we can help the better! The lip balm itself is amazing too – I use it at night before going to sleep. It’s got hydrating coconut oil, shea butter and juicy extracts of pear. It’s so hard not to lick your lips with this one and it’s 100% natural.

If you are looking for a fabulous natural brand I LOVE Burt’s Bees. I recently got some new products to test out and one of them is the Burt’s Bees Daily Moisturising Cream. This is good for sensitive skin as well because it doesn’t irritate at all. It also contains Cotton Extract which helps skin to improve its barrier function and it’s a very lovely gentle daily cream to use if your skin has just simply had ENOUGH! Sometimes, it really is going back to the simple things in life.
I’m a big fan of this next one which is the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream. The key ingredient in this is Clary Sage which is scientifically proven to provide intense hydration. I actually love using this when my skin feels like it’s been overloaded by too many products and I just need to use something simple but effective.
I love a cleansing oil and especially this one! It feels smooth and slippery on the skin and removes all makeup and oil but leaves skin feeling soft afterwards. It also smells fabulous and contains natural moisturisers including Coconut and Argan Oils. And it’s 100% natural – a true green beauty hero.
Okay so this is my favourite product from Burt’s Bees and I use it quite frequently when 1. I’m feeling lazy or 2. My skin needs a drink. You can use this this as an overnight mask like I do. All you have to do is apply it – it sinks in super quick and it doesn’t leave any residue on the pillow. Again this has Clary Sage which is a botanical that has an exceptional ability to trap and retain moisture. I often go back to this product time and time again.
So the deeper I got into Dr. Hauschka the more and more intrigued I got! The next product up on the list is the Dr. Hauschka Revitalising Day Cream which is lighter than the Rose Day Cream so if you are after a lighter moisturiser that sinks in quickly this is the one. I do prefer the Rose Day cream to this one but that is just my taste as I like heavier and richer creams. However saying that this one is perfect for the summer! It has botanical extracts that nourish and moisturise – with the lightest touch.
I first fell in love with this German natural brand when I tried the Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream on the plane on the way back from South Korea recently. I only had a tiny little sample tube but was super impressed with the rich texture of the cream and so from there on I was hooked! I wanted to know what other products were out there besides the Rose Day Cream. Well I’m all about hydration so this Dr. Hauschka Hydrating Cream Mask was the obvious next choice to try. And something to note – this product is 100% organic and natural and it’s really amazing what it can do! If you are feeling the effects from harsh weather, this mask is brilliant. It’s great for tired, dry and sore skin to soothe away the misery with almond, jojoba and avocado oils.
Voya is another natural brand that I’ve recently discovered and I love a good facial mask. The Get Glowing Illuminating Clay Mask is a marine face mask so it contains minerals from the sea as well as rosemary (which is really on trend right now as an ingredient). This is great if your skin is looking dull in general as it does brighten the complexion. You can use the mask twice a week and leave on for 15 minutes each time. And brilliantly enough this also doubles as a blemish fix – you can leave it on spots overnight to work its magic.
I’m all about an exfoliator that uses fruit acids to loosen the dead skin cells and also brighten skin. And as Voya products are all about natural they use pineapple and seaweed enzymes to do this. Again this is fabulous for dull skin as it helps to get rid of the dead, dull skin cells to reveal the brighter skin underneath. This works like a mask in that you apply it and leave it on the skin for 5-10 minutes before removing with a muslin cloth or rinsing off.
As we are talking all about natural products the Voya Even Pure Light Calming Moisturiser has 95% certified organic ingredients! This is a lovely, light moisturiser that is good for oily skin in particular because it helps decrease sebum production and pore size. Something to decrease my pore size? Sign me up! This also balances the skin so that it’s not so reactive.
I love Caudalie and have been using their products for quite some time. They have just released a VineActiv range which uses grapeseed oil as a hero ingredient. This is another natural brand that I love and the Overnight Detox Oil actually uses a 100% natural concentrate which helps to detox the skin at night. This is a really concentrated oil so you only need to use a few drops on the face each night before applying moisturiser. It contains grapeseed oil and rose plant oil for regenerating purposes, lavender for healing, white sandalwood oil for purifying, carrot oil for detoxifying and sweet almond oil for radiance. So basically there are a lot of concentrated oils in this formula. It sinks in easily and left my skin glowing after a few uses!
I think that this moisturiser is perfect for the summer and also great for city skin because this is an anti-pollution moisturiser which limits the quantity of pollutant particles on the skin. So if you are worried about the effects of pollution on the skin (and trust me you should be) then this is a brilliant, lightweight moisturiser to look into. It also targets wrinkles and boosts radiance alongside the pollution protection!
Never forget the eyes for they show your age first! The Caudalie VineActiv Energizing and Smoothing Eye Cream is a lovely cream that targets signs of fatigue and ageing around the eye. And the great thing about this cream is that it also targets dark circles which I seem to be suffering from recently. I really hate looking tired around the eyes so I do think it’s important to use an eye cream. And a little tip? You can also use this on your lips too!
And if you are looking for a serum from a natural brand then the Caudalie VineActiv Glow Activating Anti-wrinkle Serum is a good one too! It’s super concentrated so a little goes a long way and it is again perfect if you are worried about the pollution effects on the skin. What it contains is A LOT of anti-oxidants that help protect skin from aggressors and it also contains an Anti-Cell Burn-Out Complex that helps fight against the impacts of lifestyle – think stress, little sleep, etc. So basically if you are one busy lady worried about stress and the effects of pollution on the skin then this serum will definitely help you out!
