Of course if you read my blog regularly you will know I love a good beauty haul and this month’s is from Lookfantastic. I love that you can order from the site and get free worldwide shipping so it doesn’t matter where you come from – you can get so many brands from Lookfantastic! And they will ship to you for free so you have the chance to try out so many products from all over the world. A lot of these products I am reviewing in this Lookfantastic beauty haul are TOTALLY new to me so even I’ve stretched outside my usual comfort zone with this haul to challenge myself to try some new goodies! I’m talking about hair, skincare and make-up so have a look at what I’ve got…
So just to give you some background my hair is really fine. It’s kind of like baby hair. I prefer natural products and love to treat my hair to a good hair mask. I try to minimize heat damage to my hair and treat it really well because once you damage it you just have to chop it all off! Here are some products that I’ve recently been trying out…
As I said I love a good hair mask and this one I had never tried before. The reason I like it is that you can use it in the shower after shampooing hair and simply leave on for five minutes to work its magic. This one is great for those who lack volume or have fine hair like me as it really amps up the thickness. My hair is also oily at the roots so this mask has Kaolin Clay that helps to control oil but also thicken hair at the same time.
Again I had never tried the Biolage hair brand before but after trying out the mask I was keen to try the Uplift Shampoo and Conditioner. Again this is perfect for thin, fine or flat hair that needs a bit of boost – a really good product for fine hair! I also like this range because it is 71% natural so doesn’t have any nasty ingredients (watch out for silicones in your hair care products). It also smells amazing with grapefruit – a good one to use for a groggy morning. No coffee required.
To go with the Biolage Uplift Shampoo there is the Biolage Uplift Conditioner. Now this one goes even more natural with 91% natural ingredients. It doesn’t weigh hair down and is a good conditioner for fine hair because it helps give some body. This one has kiwi extract and kaolin clay so it’s also good for those who suffer from oily roots. Nothing targets the oil like kaolin clay!
So when you have fine hair there is often not a lot of lift at the roots. I LOVE this Grow Gorgeous Back Into The Roots 10 Minute Stimulating Scalp Masque because it makes me feel like the salon has come to me. I love it when you get a scalp massage at the salon – it is simply the best. So this is another fabulous hair mask for fine hair – and it only takes 10 minutes. What it does is that it uses Biotin and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate the scalp and also fill in sparse fibres within each hair follicle to promote a thicker appearance. Genius? I think so! Also the menthol makes your scalp feel really refreshed and amazingly clear-headed on the inside too.
Okay so I’ve talked about masks and also shampoo and conditioner but what about after you get out of the shower? Now I know us fine-haired gals struggle with using hair oils but I am loving this one from System Professional – but just on the ends of my hair. If you have thicker hair then it’s great to use all over sparingly as a leave-in treatment. You can also use it as a styling aid which is what I like to do if my hair looks a bit frizzy. Basically it just gives your hair a nice long drink of water – or oil in this matter.
I wanted my Lookfantastic haul to be well-rounded so have included some great make-up bits as well. I am a big fan of Benefit because their make-up just suits me. It’s as simple as that. Now the bits that I’ve included here are all my favourites and have been using for awhile so it’s only natural that I would include them here!
Who doesn’t love Benefit? The products honestly suit my skin and I recently did an IG Stories takeover for them (make sure you are following me on Insta @beautyrocksblog) where I talked all about my favourite new launches. I’m pretty sure that Hoola is on a lot of people’s ‘favourite’ list and it’s definitely on mine. The powder is soft and smooth and the colour is great for me as well. I just lightly dust this across the spots on the face where the sun would hit naturally and it makes me look a lot more sunkissed – even in the dark months of winter.
I’ve always loved Clinique. It was the first ‘expensive’ brand I ever tried as a teenager. And I am really into make-up products that are super easy to use like this Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight – it’s a cream highlighting stick. So all you need to do is dab onto the tops of your cheekbones, browbone and on your cupid’s bow. And you can carry this in your handbag on-the-go.
Oh I love lipstick! Honestly it’s why I love make-up so much. Lipstick is the most transformational make-up item in my eyes and this is where you can start to have some fun with your look. I love this classic red in the Clinique Pop Liquid Matte Lip Colour and Primer. I also like that this doubles as a lip primer because the primer smooths lips out. When you are wearing matte lipstick you want a smooth canvas to work with because everything shows! This lipstick also lasts – double points!
Now I’m a bit of a skincare nerd and love all the science behind it. And trust me, this is the only time I enjoy science. Now only if they taught cosmetic science in school instead of physics I probably would have enjoyed it more.
As I age my eyes start to show the signs first. I am also not the type that can get away with being exhausted but still look okay! And as I’m so busy and often work 7 days a week, I’m usually tired. Therefore I’ve been using some targeted eye treatment patches recently and they really work well. These Talika Eye Therapy Patches are fabulous – especially if you feel like you are looking a little tired with dark circles and the fine lines start to show. Also if you are going out for a date or for an event I would highly recommend using these eye patches to look refreshed and alert. Eye Therapy Patch uses a post-surgery technological discovery (I know!) and you can actually reuse the patch 3 times and even wash it! You simply apply for 30 minutes and you will be amazed at the results. My eye area looked much brighter and smoother and these were fabulous to use before big events in the past two weeks! Highly recommended.
I love Omorovicza and have talked about this brand quite a bit. This Oxygen Booster is seriously the bomb! It’s like injecting your skin with a burst of fresh oxygen which is fabulous for the cells. This is a gel formula that immediately brings oxygen molecules into the skin to plump it up. It also works on smoothing the skin and relaxing the muscles (no need for Botox here). Again, if you are looking particularly haggard and tired this product is amazing.
I’ve always loved the Vichy Aqualia range and have used this cream before because I love how hydrating it is. My skin when tired tends to sink and lose volume and my face actually looks thinner the more and more tired I get. Therefore this Vichy Aqualia cream has done the trick before and will do the trick again. It contains Vichy Thermal Spa Water and Hyaluronic Acid to plump and provide hydration for up to 48 hours. And it didn’t irritate my skin – a real bonus.
I’m a huge fan of masks in general. You’ve heard all about my love of hair masks but I love face masks even more. This Filorga Time-Filler Mask is a fabulous skin plumper. Again, if you have an event or need to really put the moisture back into your skin this is a great fix. The mask firms and plumps which naturally reduces wrinkles. And the mask is also developed with Black Fiber Technology so it perfectly adheres to the face. This always helps if you like to do tasks while wearing a sheet mask – the good news is that this one doesn’t slide off the face.
Filorga Optim-Eyes Contour Cream
Again, my eyes are what give away my tiredness and age most often. This Filorga Optim-Eyes Contour Cream targets the three evils; dark circles, puffiness and wrinkles. The formula does something interesting in that it encourages the elimination of pigmented residues which in turn helps reduce the appearance of dark circles. So if you feel old and tired and your eyes start to look it as well this is a great eye cream to help you target the signs of fatigue!
As you age your skin loses elasticity and volume so this is the serum that targets slackening skin. It utilises NCTF®, a medicine-derived polyrevitalising complex – in other words this has the same concentration as injectable anti-ageing treatments. This is quite simply amazing so if you are worried about ageing and thinking about injectables then maybe consider giving this a go before you do. It uses Retinol, a DNA complex and Vitamin C – all those good things that work on reducing fine lines and wrinkles and also keep the face firm.
I’m a huge fan of Manuka honey and have also heard it’s good for the face to reduce acne. And I mean actually applying it to the face. All you have to do is Google ‘Manuka Honey mask’ and so many articles will come up that rave about applying Manuka Honey to the face and using it as a face mask. Now I have never tried this myself but I’ve always been curious. However I do like to eat Manuka Honey as it’s extremely good for you! This one is certified to contain a minimum of 250mg/kg methylgyoxal. Methylgyoxal is a naturally occurring compound in Manuka Honey that lends the substance its remarkable and unique properties. Now that I have this though I think I may give that Manuka honey mask a go…
I hope you enjoyed my Lookfantastic beauty haul! What would your dream beauty haul be?
