It’s festival season! There is something about festivals that make people tap into their alter-egos or even take their current style up about 10 notches. Take myself for example. I like a minimal chic look on most days but when it comes to a festival I want pink hair, glittery fake tattoos and boho vibes all in one. It’s an excuse to dress in ways and experiment with hair/make-up in ways that you wouldn’t do normally. I’ve put together some of my best festival beauty buys for under a tenner – a list of my festival picks for this season – from pink hair to glowing skin!
I have to admit, I’ve been eyeballing Nicole Richie’s hair for a long time. That lilac shade is just perfection. But I’m scared to go the whole hog if you know what I mean so these new Colorista Washout temporary colours from L’Oreal Paris are fab. How do they work? Well you just leave them on for 15 minutes (20 minutes for more intense colour) and then rinse out. I’ve got shades Pink, Blue, Dirty Pink and Purple and the colour lasts between 2 and 15 shampoos (1-2 weeks) depending on the colour so you don’t have to commit for too long. I think these would be perfect for a holiday and festival season. Another great thing? The Washout is actually a mask so it doesn’t damage hair at all, in fact it treats it!
If you are even less committal to pink or purple hair than even 2-15 shampoos then there is also the L’Oreal Paris Colorista Spray (I’ve got shades Pink, Blue, Hot Pink and Mint). This you just spray into the hair for a one-day colour – it’s like a hairspray and the formula uses spray-on pigments that stick to hair and stay on until washed out. I tried the Pastel Blue colour – you can make the colour more vibrant by using more spray and can also use more than one colour spray to make yourself into a multi-coloured mermaid. The point of these sprays is to have some fun! Perfect for a one-day festival or on the weekend when you want to experiment (away from the office).
Again, there are so many pictures to pose for with friends (everyone’s got their phones out) that you will probably want to try and look your best. I’m pretty terrible at contouring but this palette makes it pretty simple – there are only three shades (don’t even ask me to figure out the ones with 10 or more). You can also use the formula as a concealer to dab on-the-go. Because let’s be serious – at the end of the day festivals are exhausting so I always need something to hide dark circles under the eyes!
I have always been a fan of L’Oreal mascaras – they make really good ones! The newest one, Miss Baby Roll Mascara curls and lifts – think of it as a mini lash lift service right at your fingertips. I always loved a mascara that lifts and curls so this one’s a keeper for sure.
Girl – get ready to glow, glow, glow with this Collection Illuminating Liquid Radiance. This is a primer but you can use it on its own or with foundation for glowing skin. Like I said, festival season is tiring so any products that help cover up tiredness are always a win in my book. This one contains gold illuminating pearls that really help give you that glowy skin look.
Festivals also mean A LOT of selfies and picture taking. Because if it wasn’t on Instagram did it ever really happen? I love the new Rimmel London Insta Fix & Matte translucent pressed powder. It really is like a soft filter for the face and small and compact to fit into your handbag for touch ups on-the-go.
I hope you have enjoyed my bargain buys for festival season! Let me know if you are going to any festivals this summer and where to go. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @beautyrocksblog for all my latest adventures!
