Life is hard sometimes. It’s certainly not always easy and for me the main issue is that I’m too busy and I’m a workaholic. I work really, really hard and I rarely take a moment of time for myself which isn’t great. So what I’ve been trying to do lately is use my beauty ritual time as ‘me time’. Dashing from meeting to meeting and running myself literally into the ground every week, I need serious downtime in the form of massages and baths. Massages are what get me through life! I often get sore, achy muscles from being hunched over a computer all day and with no time to work out properly I tend to get lots of knots in my shoulders. I take evening beauty rituals quite seriously in that I love to have a hot bath and really use products that I believe are both mindful and relieve muscle and mental fatigue. Here are some of my favourite products for mindful beauty! Get ready, set, relax…
Okay so as I explained massages are life! So what if your shower head actually gave you a massage and converted hard water to soft water? Amazing I know! Here are the ‘hard’ facts – hard water is supplied to over 60% of homes in the UK, and is known to ‘prematurely age skin, dehydrate hair, and aggravate skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis’.
I knew that hard water wasn’t good for skin or hair and you can tell when you go abroad and the water feels slippery and a bit hard to rinse soap off. That means that it’s soft water which is much better for your hair and skin because it doesn’t aggravate. I just spent a week in the Cayman Islands where the water was nice and soft and my hair and skin had never felt smoother or softer. But it was soon back to London and the hard water situation here. Hard water is what causes limescale in your kettles and sinks so think of what it is doing over time to hair and skin. Hard water contains impurities and a high level of minerals that are not so good for your skin.
So needless to say I was extremely excited as I’ve been looking for something that converted hard water to soft water and when the Orb Spa showerhead came into my radar I had to have it! Water is converted to soft water and you can use the showerhead as a massager on skin as well. It’s super easy to install and you can just switch your normal showerhead with this one in about five minutes. I would HIGHLY recommend this showerhead – it’s amazing! I would never look back.
As I said before I love mindful beauty and with this showerhead I can now bring the massage experience into my shower – easing my aches and pains and the stresses of the day. Mindful beauty doesn’t get better than this…
I absolutely would choose a body oil over a body lotion any day and I love natural body oils with aromatherapy benefits hence why the Voya Mindful Relaxing Body Oil has made my list! The oil feels and smells amazing on skin and contains evening primrose oil, argan oil and lavender oil so not only is the oil super nourishing for skin but it also smells amazingly soothing for the mind and body. I love that it also contains Rosemary Oil which has been proven to ease mental fatigue (I really, really need this!) This is a great product to use after a nightly bath – it feels luxurious and is a real treat. Headache be gone!
Now a candle always helps to ease my mental fatigue at the end of the day and this Oh So Scented Luxury Candle from Irish brand Voya with African Lime and Clove is gorgeous and uplifting. The scent instantly hits you even as you unbox the candle with top citrus notes of lemon, grapefruit and fresh lime combined with crisp herbs and warm spicy clove. If your head feels overly tired, light this candle – it’s refreshing, uplifting and will perk up anyone’s mood!
I often get achy muscles because I’m at a computer for such long hours during the day and also city living just takes a toll doesn’t it? Carrying around laptops, bags or wearing heels while trying to dash to meetings in the city doesn’t make for relaxed muscles now does it? Enter the Kneipp Herbal Bath Comfort with Devil’s Claw – this is a bath oil that you can apply into the bath or directly onto the body. It’s made with herbal ingredients known to help ease achy muscles and I really do think my muscles felt a lot more relaxed after using it. If you are stressed or tired or achy, pick this one up!
I love a good massage and especially a good massage oil. As I said I prefer a natural oil and this one from Beauty Kitchen is made with Abyssinian Oil and you can use it in the bath or as a massage oil. It smells amazing with lemongrass and grapefruit – it’s uplifting and energising all at once! The oil also tones and brightens your skin so is perfect for a massage!
Now recently (if you are following me on Instagram @beautyrocksblog you would have seen this on my IG stories) QVC and Elemis paired up to release the most amazing set ever! The set (worth nearly £200 but only sold for £60 – i.e. best bargain of the century) contained the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Ultra-Rich 30ml, Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm (105g), Frangipani Monoi Shower Nectar 300ml, Frangipani Monoi Body Cream 100ml, Frangipani Monoi Body Oil 35ml and Peptide Night Recovery Cream-Oil 30ml (NEW!). Now the set is still available for around £85 which is still an incredible bargain.
The reason why I am including it in this roundup is due to the Elemis Frangipani Monoi Shower Nectar, Body Cream and Body Oil as these are absolutely gorgeous products if you are interested in mindful beauty. The entire set is an AMAZING value and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using the Frangipani Monoi bodycare products because they are really luxurious and smell amazing. Elemis is a spa brand so really know how to do their facial care as well as bath/body. I use the Shower Nectar in the shower or bath (bubble bath) and the Body Oil to follow. The scent of frangipani and Tahitian Monoi Oil transports you to Tahiti, I swear. And if that doesn’t relieve mental fatigue I don’t know what will!
