I’ve been a busy little bee lately testing out all sorts of products in my beauty lab (i.e. at home!). Some of my skincare heroes that I’ve tried and tested are featured in this post – read on to discover more!
Skincare Heroes: Tried and Tested
I am the biggest fan ever of microneedling. Honestly it makes such a difference to your skin. I’ve reviewed microneedling at home previously and I noticed a big difference in my skin – mainly in that my skin tone was improved and the plumpness returned to my skin. I really did look younger. But however as with most things I got busy and microneedling got put to the side. Until now. As soon as the GloPRO landed on my desk I sat up and took notice! This was microneedling but with the added benefit of LED light.
So how does this work? Well the same way as microneedling. At night when your skin is clean, you need to charge this up and then get to rolling. Simply roll the device over your skin (it will feel like a scratch) and not only will the micro tips stimulate the skin’s natural healing process but the effect is immediate because this is partnered with LED light which start to heal skin right away. Therefore this will work even faster than your typical microneedling roller.
I would recommend using this after cleansing on dry skin and before putting on serum and moisturiser. Then your skin has the entire night for the healing and regeneration process. Use this 3 times a week to increase collagen production, firmness, improve skin tone and plump the skin. Honestly I was super impressed by this device even after a few times of using it.
Use it on targeted areas such as the forehead, cheeks, chin and nose-to-mouth lines and roll the GloPRO over each area 4-10 times. Use for at least 1 minute on each area and apply serum within 60 seconds after stimulating the skin.
This is a brilliant tool to incorporate into your skincare routine for younger-looking skin!
A great serum to try after using the GLoPRO is the Generation Skincare Vitamin C Serum. This is an all-natural formulation that sinks in like a dream and will help to soothe and repair skin post microneedling (of course you can use this at any time). I’ve already talked about the power of aloe HERE and this serum contains not only aloe but also green tea and Vitamin C. Vitamin C is great at rejuvenating the skin, brightening and repairing the signs of ageing. There is an added boost that comes from hyaluronic acid which will provide a plumping benefit as this helps skin to retain water. I also love the smell of this – it smells like a bottle of oranges!

I love at-home treatments that make me feel like I’ve just been to a skincare clinic! This is one of those at-home solutions that will make you say WOW. It’s a two-step treatment that both detoxes and infuses the skin with oxygen for a brightening effect. I’ve always been impressed by Philosophy products and this one is no exception. So Step 1 is all about the detox with an activated charcoal mask which draws out all the impurities and Step 2 is all about reoxygenating the skin with a treatment that involves light and airy foam that tingles on the skin and activates on contact. My skin definitely looked brighter and fresher after using this and it would be a great at-home treatment on the weekend when you have a bit of extra time to pamper yourself! The thing to note is that this is quite an efficient process because you don’t even have to rinse off the charcoal mask. You apply the Step 2 Oxygenating Foam on top of the charcoal mask and then massage it in. You only have to leave it on for 3 minutes as well and then remove it with the exfoliating derma blade (included) which is quite fun! You then simply rinse off. So if you are time poor this is a great at-home treatment that is easy peasy.
I am absolutely obsessed with coconut – I just can’t get enough of it. I like it in my beauty products and in my Coconut Lattes at Pret – yum! So when the Time Bomb Peace & Quiet Coconut Cleansing Oil landed on my desk I just couldn’t resist using it right then and there. I love a cleansing oil because it feels super lovely on the skin and it really does get rid of make-up and dirt without leaving the skin dry and tight feeling. This one really dissolves it all including SPF which is sometimes very tricky to remove. It contains a blend of grapeseed, sunflower, safflower and botanical coconut oil that emulsifies on contact with water so it’s really easy to rinse off. Cleansing bliss…
If your skin is feeling super dehydrated then the new serum from Vichy will certainly help. The Vichy Mineral 89 Serum is all about that hydration. I actually used this while travelling not too long ago and it really helped to bring the moisture levels back up in my skin. It’s like a drink of water for the skin – literally. It is a gel-based formula so sinks in super quickly. The ‘89’ comes from the fact that the formula is based upon 89% of mineral thermal water from French volcanoes and contains another 15 rare minerals. This is also great for sensitive skin as it doesn’t irritate at all and contains only 11 ingredients.
