It’s cold – brrrrr. When it turns frigid my skin tends to get dry and tight and needs some extra TLC. Indoor heating, cold weather and the back and forth between them can wreak havoc on the skin’s hydration levels. So, for cold climates, here’s some of my favourite skincare products.
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
To this day, this is one of my favourite cleansing balms. It feels soothing and slippery on the skin but removes make-up like a dream because it transforms from a solid balm to a silky oil upon application. Skin feels super soft and smooth after. This is a great product in the winter if you find your foaming cleanser drying your skin out too much. Or use this in the morning when you can be a bit gentler with your skin.
I think I’ve explained my love for Natura Bisse before and I will say it again. I love this brand! Every product I’ve tried from them has been really good and this little 3 mask ritual set comes with 3 mini masks to use on your skin when it’s feeling like it needs some TLC. You can use each of the masks in a week, one every other night starting with the Stabilizing Cleansing Mask. This mask both cleanses and exfoliates and leaves skin feeling super soft.
Wait a day and then move to the Essential Shock Intense Mask which is like a super-boost of hydration for the skin. I used this after a long-haul flight and it was fabulous. Great for parched skin!
Last but not least wait another day and then delve into the C+C Vitamin Soufflé Mask (perfect for a Friday or Saturday after a full week when skin feels deflated). This is a gorgeous mask that smells like pure sunshine and oranges and will make your skin look brighter and perkier by infusing it with vitamins and antioxidants.
Vichy Liftactiv Vitamin C Brightening Skin Corrector
It’s proven that Vitamin C is fantastic for us – both for our bodies and for our skin. Vitamin C in skincare has been shown to brighten the skin and combat environmental damage. This Vitamin C serum from Vichy (which is brand, spankin’ new) has the highest concentration of pure Vitamin C yet – 15%! Brightens, smooths and corrects skin in just 10 days. What more could you want? Great for the winter when skin is at its dullest.
Emma Hardie Plump & Glow Hydrating Facial Mist
I LOVE a hydrating facial mist. I just can’t get enough! I keep them in my bag, in my travel essentials, by my desk. They are just so refreshing and great for perking up the skin. So when a Hydrating Facial Mist from renowned facialist Emma Hardie landed on my beauty desk I took notice. This mist is particularly for parched skin which is definitely my skin. My skin tends to be oily but dehydrated so hence I need constant hydration. I also love that this is a mist-in-tube form so it’s super portable. Simply spritz onto skin when it needs to be perked up during the day – it also wakes you up with its fabulous scent!
Beauty Kitchen Chill Me Bath Oil
I love a good bath oil – I just find them so relaxing and I prefer a natural oil over one that is artificially scented. This gorgeous and affordable Chill Me Bath Oil from Beauty Kitchen is a little gem with Abyssinian oil, organic lavender and rosemary. It smells amazing and will instantly soothe the spirits. The good thing is that you can use this as a bath oil or as a massage oil – both are brilliant!
Kiehl’s Advanced Midnight Recovery Concentrate
This is one of my ride or die products that you can never go wrong with. Basically there’s a whole lot of natural goodness squeezed into this little bottle including Squalane, Evening Primrose Oil, Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Essential Oils including Lavender. I love adding a couple of drops to my moisturiser or applying to bare skin in the evening – the formula works best at nighttime while skin is in the rest and repair stage. Too many late night Christmas parties? Try this one out for size to get that glow back.
You had me at flash balm! I love a flash balm because they are super hydrating and this Pixi one is brilliant! It’s a 3-in-1 formula that you can use as a moisturiser, a mask and as a primer. It’s great at plumping the skin and contains rose, olive leaf and witch hazel extract. A gorgeous little product that you definitely need in your winter skincare arsenal.
I love an essence which is what you put on for extra hydration before a serum and this one is great because it’s a serum-essence hybrid which sinks into skin like a dream. This is a skin softening essence with encapsulated flower oils that burst onto skin upon application along with jojoba, sunflower and olive fruit. This is a great product paired with the Pixi Rose Flash Balm too!
Jurlique Sweet Violet & Grapefruit Hydrating Mist
I love the Jurlique Hydrating Mists – I keep the Rosewater one by my desk at all times. The bottle lets out just the right amount of mist as well so that your face feels perfectly hydrated and your make-up isn’t negatively affected. You know how on some spritz bottles it feels like you are hosing yourself in the face? Well, not with the Jurlique ones so I can greatly appreciate that! The Jurlique Sweet Violet and Grapefruit Hydrating Mist is a Limited Edition formula and the fragrance is perfectly suited to give you that refreshing zing when you need it most during the day. In the winter my skin sometimes feels dry and tight so this is a savior when you need to give your skin some soothing moisture throughout the day – simply spritz as needed!
Sister & Co Super Seed Facial Formula
When it comes to facial oils I like to go natural. And in the winter is when you can really dabble in luxury oils and treat your dehydrated skin to something nice. That something nice comes in the form of Sister & Co Super Seed Facial Formula. I’ve featured some products from this brand before and I’ve loved every one of them. If you like green beauty and go for natural products then this is something worth checking out. This Super Seed Facial Formula uses rare Amazonian cacay seed oil, ‘packed full of natural retinol and linoleic acid, and organic rosehip seed oil, rich in vitamin E and key omega fatty acids, to help restore an even skin tone.’ It does make skin super soft and you can use it after cleansing. Simply massage into skin and then follow with your favourite moisturiser. Bliss!
