Hey y’all! I was born and raised in the good ole’ US of A, so it was only natural that I would do an American beauty box with some of my favourite new Stateside beauty discoveries.
The U.S.A. – where the Sephora is a beauty mecca of treasures and where fab brands such as Glossier, Urban Decay and Tom Ford beauty call home. The U.S. has always been a market leader in the world of beauty with so much technology and trends coming out of the country that sometimes, it’s really hard to keep up! Since America is such a diverse country with different landscapes and people, American beauty trends are as different as night and day from the East to the West and the North to the South.
You might find flawless, high coverage make-up and blowouts reign supreme in New York City during a weekday power lunch, but beachside in LA, you’re more likely to see glossy, fresh-faced skin and low maintenance hair while sipping on a kale smoothie. Miami girls might favor products with SPF while the Midwest prefer natural products and the North prefers a more moisture-focused skincare routine to help protect skin during the winter months.
And that’s what makes America so very exciting when it comes to beauty – it’s all about diversity. I’ve tried to cover all areas in this box – from the sleek smooth blowouts of New York City to the SPF-savvy girls of Miami to the natural girls in the Midwest to the trendy girls in L.A. I’ve put a little love from all corners of the U.S. in my Stars, Stripes and Lashes box and I hope you will love it as much as I do!
Wet N’ Wild is one of those brands that I used to buy all the time when I was a teen and honestly never grew out of. They come from L.A. and are of course cruelty-free with lots of trend-led color cosmetics. I’ve spent a lot of money on mascaras and I have to say this is one of the best budget-friendly ones out there – it’s soy-protein enriched with panthenol to strengthen lashes!
With the best salons and blow dries quicker than a New York minute, it’s no wonder New York City women always look flawless. That’s why I HAD to include a hair product in this box, inspired by the women of NYC. This It’s A 10 Styling Serum is fabulous – it’s not greasy so it’s good for both thick and fine hair. Apply a dollop of formula to the ends of your hair while damp and blow dry for sleek, glossy NYC inspired locks.
I love Ellovi, a brand who makes their lip butters with only six wildly-harvested ingredients, so pure you can eat it! This 100% vegan lip butter is made with cold-pressed lemons and ginger along with sunflower, macadamia, Hawaiian coconut and African shea butter.
I had to include a sample of the Coola SPF30 Mineral Make-up Primer in the box, inspired by the girls of Miami. The Floridians, being exposed to strong sunlight nearly every day of the year have to be super sun-savvy. This primer blurs the look of imperfections and pores whilst giving sun protection at the same time!
ColourPop Lippie Stix (assorted colors)
ColourPop is everything you expect an L.A. brand to be – trendy, fun and 100% cruelty-free. I love these Lippie Stix because they are perfect for a girl on-the-go. The Lippie Stix have a matte finish but without that over-dry feeling as the formula contains Vitamin E, Mango, Avocado and Shea Butter.
I’m a big fan of sheet masks and Yes To has a cucumber calming mask that I LOVE. This mask is soothing, refreshing and your skin will feel plump and soothed in about 20 minutes. Also, this mask great for sore, wind-chapped skin – Northern girls are you listening? I know those winters up top are harsh!
