Sometimes it’s not about the price but about the joy that a special oil or cream brings to use as you use it. It might be the scent or the texture but whatever it is you are willing to pay the price for it! Here are some of my favourite new luxury skincare buys right now!
Oh the joys of a facial oil! If you haven’t experienced Sjal then you must pay attention. This brand was created with crystal healing methods in mind and is super luxe, luxe, luxe. I love the minimalist packaging and the concept behind the brand which of course as mentioned uses the power of crystals to supercharge the skincare. The Sjal Saphir Concentrate Anti-Ageing Face Oil uses Himalayan blue sapphires to rejuvenate and restore the skin. If you have ever studied crystal energy or spoken to someone who knows about it – it is supposed to work! My friend swears by crystals for energy rebalancing and although I haven’t gotten all the tips yet on what crystals I need to get I’m certainly interested. Even if you aren’t into crystals you can still appreciate that this facial oil feels like a joy to use – it’s light and silky and contains 14 different oils to target ageing. It firms, calms and soothes all at once with calming blue camomile, a bio-marine complex to rejuvenate and a lavender complex to relax and soothe. My skin felt silky soft after using this and certainly smoother to the touch and to the eye.
Along with the Sjal Saphir Concentrate Anti-Ageing Face Oil I’ve been using the Själ Balans Gentle Deep Pore Cleanser which is a gel-crème cleanser that feels super gentle but is also very effective at removing make-up and grime. Again Sjal products are a joy to use – they smell and feel amazing. This one doesn’t foam up so doesn’t strip the skin of essential oils or disrupt the balance of the skin. It’s got some interesting ingredients including extracts of fig and African whitewood, along with colloidal silver and gold (very good anti-microbial properties). And with rose quartz and pearl extract added in you simply can’t go wrong. A great cleanser for both day and night to ease you into bed, or gently wake you up in the morning.
If you love the cult-classic Sisley Paris Black Rose Mask then you are in for a plump little treat with the Sisley Paris Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream which is just a little dream in a pot. This is all about plumping and perfecting on a day-to-day basis, just like the Black Rose mask does on a one-off. The texture is lovely and creamy and melts into the skin and the fragrance is the same one we know and love from the Black Rose Mask. So how does it restore that youthful plump? Well, with something called Alkekengi calyx extract which plumps up the epidermis and the dermis along with Padina pavonica extract which strengthens the skin’s hydric layer. I did felt my skin was plumper and smoother so if you are looking for a more long-term effect alongside the Black Rose Mask then I don’t think you will be disappointed with the Sisley Paris Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream because it works along the same lines as the mask, plumping and smoothing away!
When your skin tone is uneven this can also give away your age. It’s not just wrinkles at fault here. The Sisley Paris Color Correcting Primer works to even out and correct skin tone and texture for that glowing skin you always dreamed of. Yes, I know I sound like an advertisement but it’s true! It also helps protect against environmental aggressors and if you live in a city this is worth taking into consideration. And this doesn’t just correct, but also prevents so it both looks pretty and does the job. This isn’t just a pretty face, after all.
You don’t have to tell me twice about how good Skinceuticals products are. To this day, it’s one of my favourite brands that indeed actually works! This award-winner of a formula contains a super high concentration of hyaluronic acid, along with botanical extracts to restore plumpness and elasticity. I’ve even noticed that as I age that plump look I once had goes down little by little. You know when you look at old photos of yourself and you look so plump and youthful? Yeah unfortunately that gets lost over time so it’s important to up your skincare game to prevent the loss of volume as much as possible. This also works to improve the appearance of fine lines around the nose, eyes and mouth – hallelujah.
I had been wanting to try one of these magnetic masks for AGES and when one came across to me I was excited because the truth is that these are really fun to play with. It’s like ingniting your inner child with these because what you do is slather on the mask, leave it on for about 20 minutes while it’s working on detoxing and cleansing the skin and then you take it off with a magnet – you don’t even need any water! Anything that remains on the skin you can actually massage in but the magnet takes off most of it really nicely. The Amour Noir Magnetic Face Mask contains minerals and oils along with Dead Sea minerals to detox the skin. Again, this is really fun to use and there is no mess after. Also, my skin looked very soft and clear after using this so it’s a great mask to add to a Sunday night facial routine.
I’ve recently become a bit of a convert to primers over powders. In fact, I’m skipping the powders these days and going for a dewy, glowy look. So enter in the primers to the rescue to do the job that the powders used to do which is smooth and mattify. I am loving the bareMinerals Good Hydrations Silky Face Primer Hydrate which you can use on top of your moisturiser and before applying make-up to smooth and prep the skin for more even make-up coverage. The primer itself is really lovely – almost like a second layer of moisturiser for the skin and it plumps too which is great because that means smoother skin in the end. If you have dry skin this is recommended over a mattifying primer.
If you have combo skin over dry skin and are looking for a primer, then the bareMinerals Combo Control Milky Face Primer Balance helps to balance out that combo skin with dry cheeks and an oily t-zone. My skin goes back and forth between combo and dry so I like both primers and can use either to match my skin’s condition on any particular day. I love the texture of this primer – it’s a milk to powder texture (see who needs powder these days?) and it also uses smart hydration to balance skin on dry areas yet eliminate oil on oilier patches of skin like the forehead. I’m also noticing my skin is more porous these days so I love this primer for minimising pores as well.
