Can’t afford a holiday abroad? No worries. I’m recreating that holiday glow indoors. I’ve been trying out the latest tanning brands that are on everyone’s lips these days (or shall I say hips these days?) which I received to test out a couple of weeks ago. I am loving the packaging and concept behind tanning waters and drops – making it super easy and mess-free to tan. Here is my review and the products that I’ve come to love so far…
If you haven’t tried a tanning water omg it’s the best thing ever. That brown mess that you associated with tanning before is now gone – enter in tanning water. It’s a water that tans you and with the Isle of Paradise Light Self-Tanning Water (great for fair skin tones) you can use it to get that noticeable yet not too dark glow. The tanning water you simply spritz onto skin and massage in and there is absolutely no mess to deal with which is great. You don’t need to use gloves either but just make sure to wash your hands when you finish. This tanning water contains organic tanning actives plus skin-loving ingredients such as avocado, chia seed and coconut oils so your skin doesn’t get dried out like it does with some other tanning products. Tanning water, a bit of a miracle, really.
Customisable tans? Yes it’s really true. If you want a deep dark tan or a soft glow then it’s up to you with the Crystal Clear Beach Glow Tan Drops. I love that you can simply add a few drops into your moisturiser (face or body) to get a lovely glow. I started using this earlier this week to prep for a holiday and my skin already looks like it has a natural glow and I haven’t even left the country! The key thing as well with this product is that it doesn’t smell and it’s got coconut oil which is my absolute favourite thing ever. Lots of people always ask how many drops and with this one you just need 2-3 drops for each area for a ‘normal’ tan and if you want a really deep tan add a couple more! I’m after a soft glow on the face so I’m loving add just a couple of drops to my night-time moisturiser.
If you like a traditional self-tanning method then a mousse is your next best bet. And this is like no other tanning mouse because it’s got a HyperViolet complex to help eliminate any orange tones on the skin. Some people have come to me asking for self-tanning tips because they are scared of that ‘orange look’ that you do get if you overdo it. But with this mousse it’s super easy and again, contains avocado, chia seed and coconut oils for hydration. And it doesn’t smell of stale biscuits, like some other tanning mousses.
The thing I hate most about self-tanning is when my skin gets really dry after. If you hate that feeling too then you must try the Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Drops which you can simply add into your moisturiser for a natural glow. You can add more glow or less glow to the moisturiser, depending on how deep you want to go and anything from 1 to 12 drops is recommended. It’s a tailor-made tan and super easy to achieve as well if you just want a nice simple glow for every day. Just remember to wash your hands after the application.
Ever had orange hands after tanning? Not a nice look right? I love the Velvotan Tanning Mitts because they are so soft and smooth and they blend self-tan in really well. You can use them with lotions, oils, mousse, sprays and tinted moisturisers. And never, never I repeat, apply self-tan without one or you will end up with orange hands and brown fingernails (yuck). I like that you can also wash these in a washing machine so you can re-use them again and again. Great for travel and tan top-ups on-the-go!
