Jewellery is very personal. It’s kind of like music in that preferences are very individual to that person. Because pieces of jewellery can also be associated with memories, just like music. A ring that your grandmother perhaps passed down to you or that necklace that you always remember your mother wearing. My grandmother gave me a ring before she passed away and although the ring was by no means really expensive, it was very special to me because it came from her.
I also wear certain jewellery as a talisman. For example, I’m a nervous flier so wear my St. Christopher (the patron saint for travellers) pendant everywhere I go. I never ever leave the house on a trip without it. It’s even been blessed by a priest! I’m also a fan of the evil eye necklaces and bracelets when I feel like I’m surrounded by negative energy. I’ve even dabbled in crystals for their energy powers – rose quartz is one of my favourites. Charms and pendants have always been a part of my jewellery collection and each of them have a special meaning.
This is why I was really excited to be able to work with Thomas Sabo on this post because they have an amazing charm collection called the Generation Charm Club. The charm collection contains the exact kind of talisman and pendants I like with everything from birthstones to zodiac signs to Native American dream catchers. I chose from the charm collection a beautiful gold chain necklace called Circle Gold with two charms that can be attached to it. Charms are great because they allow you to personalise your jewellery and also when you interchange them you can create a totally new piece.
One of the charms I chose is the Virgo zodiac sign which is personal to me because of course, I’m a Virgo. I like my zodiac sign because it describes me really well. I’m a perfectionist at heart and a very hard worker and this pendant reminds me of my work ethic and how hard I’ve worked to get to where I am. It’s a beautiful charm as well – 18K yellow gold plating with small zirconia white crystals dotted on the face of the pendant. Since I’ve worn it, several people have asked me about it.
The other charm pendant I can attach to the necklace is my birthstone which is lapis lazuli for September. It’s a stunning birthstone as well with flecks of gold dotted throughout the blue. Again, this charm really grounds me and reminds me of my birthstone ring that my mother gave me when I graduated from high school. This stone’s celestial blue remains the symbol of royalty and honour and is the universal symbol of wisdom and truth. The pendant comes with a lobster clasp so its very easy to attach to the Circle Gold Necklace. Mixing silver with yellow gold is really on trend these days as well.
Thomas Sabo has so many lovely pieces – honestly, they are so gorgeous and the quality is beautiful. From the Ocean Stars Range, I also chose a pair of Starfish gold ear studs which are timeless and classic. They are the kind of earrings that won’t ever go out of style and will be stylish until the end of time. I think it’s really nice to have a beautiful pair of earrings. They can really up your whole look, add some pizazz and style as well as draw attention to your face, in a good way. On the Thomas Sabo site, there are over 200 earring designs with all the latest earring trends.
Another piece of jewellery I wear every single day and consider part of my everyday look is a beautiful watch. Watches are a piece of jewellery that are both functional and beautiful at the same time. You can tell a lot about a person from their watch and I’ve always chosen my watches very carefully. Watches can make someone look more professional, pulled together and also styled. This Thomas Sabo Glam Spirit Mesh Gold Green watch from the Thomas Sabo Tropical Collection is gorgeous and immediately caught my eye because it has a beautiful emerald green face. I don’t often see watches with this kind of face and it’s incredibly striking with the yellow gold of the watch. I mean green and gold are two colours that go together like a dream so it’s no surprise that this spirit watch is a showstopper. It looks expensive and makes the wearer looked pulled together and effortlessly stylish. This is definitely a watch that I will be wearing from day in and day out this year.
