A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words: How To Create a Gallery Wall

*this post is a paid collaboration with Desenio, but ALL words, choices of prints, creative control and opinions are my own, as always

A picture is worth a thousand words, so they say. I love the way a good picture can change the atmosphere of a whole room. I’ve been meaning to write a post on how to create a gallery wall for some time now so was thrilled when given the opportunity to work with Desenio, whose prints I’ve always admired. A gallery wall can really add some life to a room and jazz it up, turning a blank canvas into one that inspires and gives joy.

My goal was to change up my living space to give it more of a relaxing vibe and for me, nothing is more relaxing than water. Therefore, I decided to create an entire gallery wall around the Surfers Wave poster which I got in the 70×100 size. It’s quite big so it does make an impact! I love how small the ocean makes me feel, like my problems are so small. It’s the same feeling I get when I look at this picture because in it you can see the surfer going up against this huge wave – a true force of Mother Nature. I love the colours of this picture as well with the swirls of blue water.

To build on this theme I added in the Street of Los Angeles print in the 50×70 size. This picture means a lot to me because I went to university in Los Angeles and had some of my best times in that city. The city of Los Angeles has always had a hold on me, so I love looking at this photo because it reminds me of good times and the dreams that I had then. I also love palm trees and they remind me of holiday destinations, which are always relaxing.

To play on the relaxing vibe I had to add in the Breathe print. For me this is a very simple but powerful word and the image reminds me to do exactly that…breathe. I’m often busy and stressed so when I come home and look at that word it reminds me that it’s time to breathe and unwind from the day. It changes the whole atmosphere of the room and it’s a reminder to take time for self-care, which is what we so often forget to do.

To add a bit of personality to the gallery wall I added in the Swimming Girl print. This shows a girl coming out of a pool, laughing and splashing. I smiled when I saw the print and knew I had to have it because it embodies positivity and joy. Just looking at that print can change my mood – she just looks so happy, without a care in the world!

Finally, to top off my gallery wall I added in the Prada print. The Prada Marfa poster is one we see often on Instagram and it instantly adds style to any room. I love the simple font and both the brand and the print are iconic. I really feel that this print ties it all together in one final stylish flair.

For all my prints I ordered white picture frames to give them a consistent look and used narrow Command Strips to hang them on my wall. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about damaging your walls and they work fabulously as well. I hope you enjoyed my post on how to create a gallery wall and it inspires you to create one of your own!
