Wow, when I tell you that the last few weeks have been a whirlwind, I am serious. I’ve been travelling and working like mad so I am keen to get back to my healthy eating habits ASAP. When life gets hectic, things like eating healthy and working out always get shoved off to the side. Eating nutritiously is really important to me because when I eat better, I feel better and hence everything else falls into place. Health truly is wealth!
One thing that I love to do to start my mornings off right is to make a healthy smoothie. I feel like nothing is quite as healthy as Açai which of course, holds superfood status. In terms of which Açai to use I always go for Sambazon Açai simply because it is Fair Trade organically-grown, ethically sourced—and of course, delicious. Açai makes healthy eating habits so easy.
I’ve taken my smoothie obsession straight into the colder months to try and ward off winter colds and flus as it’s an easy way to get my veggies and fruit in for the day. As you may know, I’ve been drinking my Sambazon Açai smoothies for a few months now and its safe to say that Açai has a firm place in my routine now. I’ve got a new autumnal smoothie recipe to share that is very much tailored to the current season and it is SO good! This recipe will serve a family of four but of course you can halve the quantities if you want to make less. So, it’s a great way to teach kids heathy eating habits too.
Autumn Açai Smoothie Recipe
4 x Sambazon Original Blend or Pure Açai packs
3 x medium chopped or frozen bananas
4 x chopped apples
4 x teaspoon of ground cinnamon
2 x tablespoons of almond butter
1/2 – 2 cups of non-dairy milk to achieve the smoothie consistency you are after
I promise you the addition of the cinnamon and apples makes this smoothie recipe a real treat for Autumn! And because Açaí is high in antioxidants and healthy omegas 3, 6, and 9, while free of naturally-occurring sugars, it makes this a super healthy smoothie to indulge in.
I also like the addition of the almond butter in this recipe, because it keeps you going for longer so this could absolutely be breakfast on-the-go as well.
And eating Açaí in the winter is a great idea because it is full of anthocyanins that tackle free radicals to help keep your defenses high. I’ve also noticed that when I have Açaí smoothies regularly, my skin and hair look better. Açaí berries have a fatty acid profile similar to that of olive oil, walnuts, and fish so it makes sense.
Let me know your favourite food that makes healthy eating habits easier for you! You can also shop the 3 for £10 offer on Sambazon Açaí at Ocado here.
