Holiday Party Picks

Time to dazzle this season – there are parties ahead! I love dressing up for Christmas parties and was even tempted this weekend to buy a Christmas jumper. Time will tell. Here are my top picks for holiday party products this month.

Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio

Pixi’s Shea Butter Lip Balm is really good enough to eat. It’s buttery soft and tastes like vanilla. I use the clear one all day long and keep it by my desk at work to keep my lips soft and moisturised. If you are looking for a bit of colour the other two balms – Honey Nectar and Ripe Raspberry as shown above – give a lovely soft tint to the lips. A true handbag hero and perfect for prepping for getting under the mistletoe.

Pixi by Petra Fairy Dust Favourites

There is something truly fairy-like about these soft and light-as-a feather powders in shades of Snow Sparkle, Gold Dust, Brightening Bare, Mocha Magic and Copper Sheen. There are five of them in neutral shades so will suit all skin types and they come screwed together so they are very handy to carry around. Where one goes, they all go. I love Snow Sparkle for a Christmas party pick for it’s sparkle and shine – you can even dust it on your chest, neck and the tops of your shoulders to highlight them if you are wearing a party dress.

Pixi Nail Colour in Gold Foil

I felt like I had dipped my fingers in pure gold when I used this nail lacquer – it is that brilliant and expensive looking. It is highly pigmented and unlike some metallic nail lacquers it doesn’t look cheap. At all. In fact, it is the nicest gold nail polish I have ever seen. The nail polishes are also free of DBP, toluene and formaldehyde so aren’t as harsh on your nails. I get so many compliments when I use this nail polish that I use it again and again. It’s great for parties because of its luxe look.

Burt’s Bees Eucalyptus and Rosemary Shower Gel

This shower gel is extremely refreshing and makes your skin tingle in the shower. Great for sleepy mornings when you are feeling particularly groggy. The smell alone, with the distinct scent of peppermint is great for energising. This is also sulphate-free and despite that, it feels rich and suds up well. A gem of a natural brand and if this won’t get you energised for a party, nothing will.

Burt’s Bees Almond Hand Cream

This is one of my all-time favourite hand creams. It smells of marzipan and feels rich and decadent. Oh yeah, and did you know it is 100% natural? With Sweet Almond Oil and Vitamin E, this is a super-nourishing and rich hand cream that helps to shield hands from the harsh weather. I absolutely love it! No one wants to hold hands with someone who has rough, wintry skin so soften up with this little jewel if you are planning to meet your very own Prince Charming for Christmas.

Push Cosmetics Vamp Up Lipgloss and Black Cosmetic Gel Black Eyeliner

With winter and the darker weather, I like to darken up my look sometimes and this often extends to lips and nails. This year I am planning to showcase a very gothic look with Push Cosmetics ‘Vamp Up’ Lipgloss. This is a very deep berry colour that will have you rocking a look very similar to the singer Lorde! This a great gloss to rock a gothic or vampy look anytime of the year.

I also love Push’s Black Cosmetic Gel Black Eyeliner because it is easy to apply and it doesn’t smudge. I have oily skin so sometimes have trouble with eyeliners but this one was great at staying put and allowed me to rock a cat-eye without the trouble of a liquid eyeliner. It took me less than a minute to do both eyes and the best part is it will last all night.

George Nail Art Pen- Pink, Black, Gold

I have recently discovered just how fun a nail art pen can be. They can completely change your nail look and have certainly gotten me a lot of compliments, even by adding something as simple as polka dots. These George nail art pens available from Asda are very affordable and less than a fiver so can have your nails looking amazing in no time at all! I am planning to use the gold for the festive season, paired with a nice red for Christmas.
