Zelens, the cult beauty brand founded by Dr. Marko Lens is now bringing out two new serums to the market in June – Z Luminous Brightening Serum and Intense Defence Antioxidant Serum.
I first came across Zelens in a Space NK and have since seen the brand appear in magazines – the products are highly rated by beauty editors as a scientifically advanced cosmeceuticals.
The two new serums both target different concerns. The Intense Defence Antioxidant Serum targets all types (3) of free radicals by protecting and repairing damage caused by environmental aggressors. This is the one you will want to use during the day, when your skin is exposed to the most environmental damage.
A little story on environmental aggressors….I remember when I first moved to London and started walking to work everyday. I noticed spots begin to appear on the top of my cheekbones, a place where I had never had spots appear before. It was only until I did a little research that I found that the spots had potentially been caused in that area by pollution. I noted that I had been walking to work along a very busy, highly congested road that probably swam with toxic fumes.
So I did what I could and changed my walking route to one that was slightly longer but took me through lovely Holland Park where I could breathe better. And guess what? The spots started to go away. So I do think there was a connection between my skin and the environmental pollution it was exposed to.
Hence it is important to wear antioxidant serum during the day to protect against all of those environmental attackers. Dr Marko Lens is a world-leading authority on skin cancer as well as an internationally acclaimed plastic and reconstructive surgeon. So we can rest assured knowing that his products have sound scientific proof behind them.
I have been using the Intense Defence serum both day and night (even though this will work harder for you during the day) and find that it is very lightweight and sinks in easily to the skin. The difference in the Intense Defence Serum is that it targets three types of free radicals instead of just one or two, as some other antioxidant serums do.
The serum is suitable for all skin types and retails at £125. Pricey? Yes, but if you are passionate about investing in the health of your skin then it is worth it.
Zelens is also launching in June the Z Luminous Brightening Serum. I do have some stubborn spots from old acne scars that never seem to go away so this would be my perfect choice to treat them. Clinical studies showed that this serum reduced dark spots by nearly 10% after 28 days. Nowadays it’s not only anti-ageing we are after but also radiance. Nothing says healthy skin like clear, bright skin. Spots age you and make you look older, sometimes even more than wrinkles.
One thing I didn’t know that Zelens did was make-up. I have been using the Youth Glow Foundation which helps to reduce the signs of fatigue and stress. It contains antioxidants to help shield against environmental aggressors.
I found this to be a lovely, creamy foundation that provided light coverage. It’s also oil-free so won’t cause any breakouts. And these days with long hours and commuting and the whole lot, my make-up stays on my face a long time. And if a product is on my face for that long I want it to be working!
The result? Dewy skin that still allows your real skin to come through for a natural glow.
