Festival Essentials

The festival season isn’t over yet my friends. Wilderness is on this weekend and with that, I would like to present my top picks this summer for festival beauty and essentials. Without further ado…

Well, first off for a festival you need good brows. Kiss has come to the rescue with their Beautiful Brow Kit that contains four brow shape stencils, a razor to trim unwanted hair and a palette that contains brow colour, wax and highlighter.

All of this comes in a pocket/handbag-size (as seen below) so is perfect for a weekend away. I know that even if I don’t make up the rest of my face heavily and embrace the ‘no make-up’ look, my brows still need to look finished and groomed because they pull it all together!

Kiss make it easy with their no-brainer toolkit and stencils for the shape you want. It is pretty much mistake-proof!

For festival hair it’s all about colour. I used Fudge Urban Hair Art Spray in Violet Haze and I absolutely loved the result! DSC_0065

It is easy to use – I would recommend spraying it in on a day that you are planning to wash your hair as you won’t want to leave this in overnight as it feels much like a hairspray and might stain your pillow! However, it’s great on that ‘I’m planning to wash my hair tonight’ day because it works great on slightly unwashed hair to give it even more texture.

Being out in the sun all day, sweating and exposed to the harsh sun, it’s important to protect your face. I’ve become a fan of Vichy Normaderm BB Clear, which is good for acne-prone skin. It’s lightweight but also contains SPF 16 so you will get some daily protection in the sun. And it controls shine! Great for covering imperfections and preventing new ones. However, if you are planning to be in direct sunlight for an extended time you will need a higher SPF for extra protection.

I rocked my Fudge Urban Violet Haze look at Wireless (below) and it was so fun to have violet hair for the day – I would highly recommend this for a fun weekend look (no one at the office has to know! I also used the Kiss Brow Stencil in Natural and Vichy Normaderm BB Clear for the below look.

For festivals it’s also all about selfies so you need a nice phone case as you will be taking lots of pictures! I love this multi-coloured leopard print iPhone5 case from Iconemesis (below image) – it’s cool but feels lightweight and easy to grip at the same time. I’ve used bulky phone cases in the past but this one feels slim and fits into a tiny over-the-shoulder bag easily. A phone case is an accessory and I use different ones to match my mood or what I am wearing – because this one is multi-coloured, I find it goes with everything.

Of course you can’t go to a festival without a selfie stick – this one by Alcatel is brilliant. Selfie sticks make it much easier to capture a group of friends in a photo and with so many people in the crowd at festivals, it’s sometimes hard to get everyone in the shot. And you definitely need pictures from the day so you can remember it forever!
