Travel Pretty: How the Cabin Crew Uniform Has Changed

It’s always interesting when you travel on different airlines and you see what kind of uniforms the cabin crew are wearing. Some airlines have recently collaborated with bigger designers from Vivienne Westwood to Zac Posen and more than ever, airlines are upping their game when it comes to their cabin crews’ style.

Monarch Airlines is one airline that has recently released some images of how their flight attendants uniform has changed throughout the years which I thought would be interesting to share. I love looking at images of clothing styles back through the ages. It reminds us that we are never too far away from a fashion trend that we thought would never come back – but does!

I love these images from the 60s – the cape would actually be completely at home on any fashionista in 2015! And the court pumps? So in style for office chic.

And what about the canary yellow outfits below? They also come from the 60s. I love these miniskirts paired with the adorable collared top – the look is fashionably preppy and I love the pop of yellow!

So with my obsession with travel and fashion I would propose a new type of outfit for flight attendants of 2016. So first, let’s start with the boots. I LOVE these berry-coloured boots from Zara below – they have a bit of a 70s vibe about them which has now become a current trend for AW15.

And when you pair them with the cropped geometric print trousers below…

Topped with this bird print blouse…

Layered with this multicoloured striped top…

And finally the cherry on top! This gorgeous long blazer with flap pockets…

To create this modern day cabin crew uniform of AW15 (below)- courtesy of Zara (a shop everyone loves!). This look is great because it adds a bit of 70s style to an adrogynous look that could be rocked by pretty much anyone! Also, if I were a flight attendant I would want the option to wear trousers and flats – who wants to be in heels on a flight for hours upon hours?
