Step into Spring Skincare

When the seasons change, so does my skincare. Just like you put away your bulky sweaters for the winter, it’s important to change up your seasonal skincare routine as well – simply because the weather calls for it. I’ve come up with my top ‘Step Into Spring’ Skincare picks to help you transition to the new season!

First up is hair. Warmer weather means oilier skin and sweat (gross but true). This pertains to the scalp too. My hair gets oilier in the summer and as I live in London, a big city, I swear by Phyto Paris PhytoNeutre Clarifying Detox Shampoo. I use this twice a week to clear up build-up and pollutants from my hair. The shampoo removes heavy metals and pollutants from the scalp and hair and really deep cleans it. It is cooling and refreshing as well with added eucalyptus oil so it’s perfect for warmer temps.

You simply cannot go wrong with Clarins Double Serum – it’s great for a variety of skin types and seasons. It sinks in easily and does the job. Clarins Double Serum also just happens to contain pycnogenol which is pine bark extract. Now what is special about that? A lot of special things, let me tell you! Pine bark extract has the ability to increase hyaluronic acid in the skin, protect it from UV damage (important in summer) and promote skin elasticity.

What’s even better is if you pair the Clarins Double Serum with the Pycnogenol supplement (from Holland and Barrett). This will work double duty on your skin which you will want when summer hits and you want to wear less make-up.

I’ve been trialling both the Clarins Double Serum and the Pycnogenol supplement (below) for over a month and I do think it has made a difference to my skin – in that it looks plumper. Perhaps this is due to the fact that Pycnogenol can increase the hyaluronic acid in skin by 44%, promoting skin elasticity and increasing it by 35%. It also heps to increase collagen and help smooth out skin. So I’ve gone double duty on my skin with pycnogenol in that I’ve put it on my skin and into my body for a better effect. Another reason it’s great to take for summer is that it can help protect skin from UV damage. What’s not to love?

Even in the summer I like to use a facial oil at night and this Lavera Organic Cranberry & Argan Facial Oil is just the trick. This contains 10 organic oils in it including cranberry, argan, almond, olive and apricot. Cranberry is a superfruit that is full of vitamin c which also helps to brighten skin. The argan oil helps nourish dry skin and the oil is full of antioxidants to help fight free radicals that may pop up due to more sun exposure. This oil is brilliant and doesn’t cost the earth either!

In hot weather there is nothing like a cooling mist to refresh your skin. I LOVE Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. I spritz away all day long with it and I swear not only does it refresh my skin but also refreshes my spirit! It’s a lovely product to carry around in the summer and feels divine on the face when you need it. Great for long-haul flights too!

Hot weather can make eyes puffy. That’s why I think REN has made a fabulous little product with its Instant Brightening Beauty Shot Eye Lift. Seriously this to the eyes what coffee does to the spirit. It lifts them right up and brightens up the under eye area too. Brightening and tightening are the name of the game here and again this would be great for summer travels to pop under the eyes before a long-haul flight. Because if you have someone you want to meet on the other side and look good for you will certainly want to try this!

For daytime you will need a primer to keep that make-up from sliding around on your face in hotter climates. I am loving Hylamide HA Blur. which is (love this) a prismatic blurring surface hydrator. What this means is that it will blur away imperfections and also hydrate your skin at the same time. I see a real difference from when I use a primer and when I don’t. You just have to find the foundation with the perfect formula to match your primer and then you are good to go! This one is really good though and guess what? It can go over make-up too! How exciting is that?

For the face I LOVE Clinique Moisture Surge Intense. My skin is oily but dehydrated of all things. This moisturising cream really helps to hydrate. It almost feels like a cream jelly and my skin drinks this up like no tomorrow. It also sits well underneath make-up and plumps the skin with its moisturising capabilities. A true hero and it’s not that expensive. It’s also oil-free so won’t clog up pores or give you any summer break-outs!

Last but not least is a little wonder product called Wunder Lift. It is a 60 second wrinkle reducer that is for the eye area. This is a fabulous product for either everyday or to save when you really, really need it. For example, before that big event, when you are going out on the town or even if you want to look really alert and refreshed for that big meeting at work. Literally this will fix you up in no time at all.

I’ve tried it on myself below. I am not wearing make-up and there is no filter on this photo. One eye has been treated by Wunder Lift and the other has not. The eye which has been treated in the below picture is the right eye looking straight on. I think this eye looks just a little bit brighter and less wrinkly than the other one. The skin tone looks better as well. It is just enough to do the trick.

The great thing about Wunder Lift is that it also is tinted so it can act as a tinted under-eye cream as well – a multi-tasker!
