Oh Clarins, can you do any wrong? I’ve got my hands on the Clarins new August launches which are perfectly timed for Autumn. These are really transitional products to guide you into the next season. Think high performance, anti-pollution, skincare disguised as make-up and you are on the right track.
Let’s start with the eyeshadow palettes. It’s no secret that Clarins eyeshadows are one of my favourites out there. The shimmer and high-pigment are what I like the most about the eyeshadows (as well as the shades). The shades are great for everyday but you can also take them into the night if you want to create a smoky eye or more glamorous look. I also like that they are really blendable and buildable as well so you can go as light or intense as you want to.
There are four new palettes to grace the shelves at Clarins next month and I’ve got two of them (Rosewood and Nude). The four palettes are Nude, Rosewood, Brown and Oud and they are all beautiful. The palettes themselves come in a luxe velvet pouch and are a lovely gold colour which give them an ultra-premium look and feel.
The first palette I want to talk about is the Nude Palette. This of course has lovely nude colours that are fabulous for everyday wear. If you are wanting to go for a more natural look this is great or a bit more intense this also works. I think this palette has some great colours for your everyday face – i.e. work face.
The pigments contain highly concentrated minerals and you can use them both wet and dry depending on how intense of a look you want to go for. I love shadows that you can use both wet or dry (by wet I mean using a damp brush and building up an intense colour) because it gives you so many options.
The next palette I want to show you is the Rosewood Palette, below. How beautiful is this eyeshadow palette? It is seriously a stunner. I think this one is more intense than the Nude palette and it contains some nice plum shades that go really well if you have green eyes (like me!). I would use the lightest colour as a highlighter under the brow and the lighter plum shade on my eyelid and then the deepest plum colour on the eye crease. The brown I would actually use on its own on another day.
The next product I am really excited about is the Clarins BB Skin Detox Fluid. This is skincare disguised as make-up (my favourite kind!). This does everything – it hydrates, protects with SPF 25 and is anti-pollution. This is make-up that is great for suffocated skin because it works on those issues instead of causing them as some make-up can.
The formula is full of beneficial plant extracts such as acerola seed which encourages skin oxygenation, meadowsweet extract to help maintain skin balance and aloe vera and hyaluronic acid for all-day hydration. The formula also acts as a perfecter for the skin with 3D radiance pigments so you will glow from summer to fall – no problem! I found the formula to really melt into the skin once you warm it up on your palms and I feel good knowing that the make-up I put on my face is just as good as my skincare!
