Hehehehe. You know when you know something and are just itching to say it? Well, that’s how I feel with this new MAC x Goodluck Trolls collaboration – coming your way in August (see I’m one day early!). The Goodluck Trolls collab is a wacky one I must say but that’s what MAC Cosmetics does well. Their collabs are unique, interesting and always keep you on your toes. It’s hard to say what’s going to come next! So let’s see what we have here…
Let me first start with the fact that this collaboration has brought up a lot of memories. I have a box of Treasure Trolls at my parent’s house from when I was a kid – I definitely had 50+ of these little cuties and even went so far as to take all of them to my friend’s house to have a troll wedding – as you do. So with this collaboration I’m feeling a little nostalgic. As I said, it’s a wacky collab but a fun one and even the hardest of hearts will have to giggle at this.
Let’s start with the eyeshadows. Below we have Silly Vanilly (the white one) and Sun’s Out Bun’s Out (mustard colour). The eyeshadows, like all MAC eyeshadows have a good pigment concentration on them and staying power. The Silly Vanilly is a white powder with a very fine hint of shimmer. Great for a base layer on the lids.
The MAC Sun’s Out Bun’s Out Eyeshadow below is a golden colour which is actually very wearable for everyday if you are wanting to go the bronze/neutral look.
Also in this collection are the Lipglass colours – the one below is Glitter Grunge and it’s purple which is quite fun and surprisingly wearable again for everyday. If you wanted to wear this alone it is a sheer colour but you can also layer this on a purple lipstick (I’m thinking Urban Decay Vice in Pandemonium) to give it some serious purple power. This is shimmery and fun, just as you would expect it to be.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Within this collab there is also a lime green lipstick (below) called Can’t Be Tamed. Now this would be perfect for a festival-goer – maybe not your everyday lipstick but hey, you only live once.
OMG. OMG. This is the best product I have seen so far from MAC which is the Instacurl Lash Mascara – launching soon! This is not a part of the Goodluck Trolls collab but is on its own, as it should be. Here is where tech meets beauty because with this little wand wonder, you can actually twist the cap to create a curved wand which means you can tailor this to curl your lashes depending on well, how big your eyelid is (or how curly you want your lashes to be). This is brilliant and again, it’s all about the packaging and the technology behind the product. This makes it fun to use mascara again – yay!
The next collab I want to talk about from MAC for August is with the Brant Brothers. If you haven’t heard of the Brant brothers they are sons of megababe model Stephanie Seymour who love to go out and about on the NYC socialite scene. The boys are gorgeous, wear make-up and look amazing. So why not do a collab? I love that the products in this collaboration are more everyday wearable – think matte palettes, long-wearing lipstains and sculpting creams.
The first product to talk about is the El Dorado Eye Kohl. This is a shimmery gold colour that is really buildable – it’s actually really lovely. Think summery shimmer and beach holidays and you will see where this is going.
The product I love the most from this collection is the 4 Pillars Eyeshadow Quad. These are matte, neutral shades that will work for anyone, anywhere. Gorgeous colours and you can do so much with these shades – from going bare bones to going full out smokey eye for the evening. I think I will be putting this palette in the handbag and carrying it with me wherever I go!
