Imagine your favourite male singer sending you a scented love letter. It sounds pretty nice and quite dreamy right? Well, that’s the inspiration behind singer Michael Bublé’s new fragrance, By Invitation. The name ‘By Invitation’ instantly brings to mind exclusivity and something indeed special.
Now first of all, this is not your typical celebrity fragrance – especially considering the thought (Michael was involved in every step of the process and worked with leading French perfumer Karine Dubreuil-Sereni) and the inspiration behind it. This fragrance is literally Michael’s scented love letter to his female fans in that he aimed to create something he loved to smell but also the women in his life loved to wear. That’s pretty sexy right?
“It’s no secret that I’m a hopeless romantic. It’s in every note I sing and every song I write. The idea was to create a special ‘invitation’ to fans into my new world of fragrance. I’m inviting women to enjoy a beautiful scent that represents my personal taste and imagination. By Invitation is what I’d call ‘love in a bottle,’ ”commented Bublé.
Well, I won’t argue with a hopeless romantic creating a bottle of perfume! It seems like the perfect match after all. The fragrance is an Eau de Parfum which means that there is a higher level of concentrated ingredients and perfume oils which therefore means that the scent is going to linger and last longer that an Eau de Toilette. I thought this lingered for quite a long time on the skin and I couldn’t help but keep trying to get a whiff of the scent from my wrists.
The scent is really feminine but not too feminine, sweet but not overly sweet and sexy but not overly sexy. It’s actually quite perfect – a crowd pleaser I think! The scent would really suit a wide range of women as it ticks several of the key boxes (sweet, feminine, sexy) without being too overpowering in any particular area. I would say the fragrance is very well-balanced. It’s something that works for day and also for night. I could see myself wearing this to the office but also going out on a date. I think this is a fragrance as well that the man in your life will also like. Men often like sweet but a little bit of sexy thrown in for good measure and this is exactly that.
The fragrance is from my favourite fragrance family, the floriental group. The top notes that jump out at you immediately are red fruits and bergamont which then move to deeper notes of lily of the valley, elegant rose, wild jasmine and spicy peony. It finishes up with a dash of sexy – a warm base of sandalwood musks, blended with a sweet but addictive vanilla praline. Yum.
The design of the bottle is simply gorgeous. It’s super luxe and would look amazing on any shelf or vanity table out there. I love anything with gold and the bottle feels heavy and luxurious to hold and admire. The bottle is suspended in a beautiful gold bracelet, giving it a unique look and the pull-off cap design is a nod to the classic fragrance atomisers of the past. The box it comes in is also super luxe with a combination of cream and gold – are there any better colours out there?
Overall I think this is a crowd pleaser. Some fragrances I know not everyone would like but this one I think most women would! And Michael Bublé has a lot of female fans out there so I’m glad that he has found something that I believe would suit just about anyone.
