Make-up. It’s transformational. It’s exciting. It also helps us feel like a more enhanced version of ourselves. And above all it’s freakin’ fun right? I love a natural, fresh-skinned look. I don’t like to cover, I like to enhance and I like a ‘I woke up like this’ kind of look. Something effortless, something that looks like me, only better. Here are some of my picks for the best make-up for a fresh-skin look.
Oh mama mia this stuff is good. Italian stallion Giorgio Armani has gone and done it with the new Face Fabric Second Skin Make-up. The texture of this is beautiful – it’s lightweight and so whipped it really does meld into the skin like second skin with flawless coverage that doesn’t feel heavy. It’s very easy to blend and it’s very good at blurring imperfections. If you want a flawless finish that isn’t super heavy, you must check this out!
I love Dr. Haushka and have been using the day creams for a while now. So I was really excited to come across the Dr. Haushka Tinted Day Cream which is a tinted moisturiser. Let me tell you, I absolutely love tinted moisturisers and tend to use them on the weekends or in holidays in the sun, when I need less coverage. I like that they still allow your fresh skin to shine through. Dr. Haushka products are also natural and 100% organic so if you are into your green beauty then this is a lovely cream to add to your collection.
Fenty Beauty is still going strong and I recently was able to pop into Harvey Nichols for a Fenty Face appointment where I was colour matched. I was also able to test and try some products out and if you are new to Fenty Beauty and want to try I would highly suggest booking in an appointment to test out some of the products. I saw all ages of women at the Fenty Beauty counter as well so this is not just a brand for millennials. Fenty really champions fresh-faced skin which is what I like most about the brand. No matter your skin tone, you can be colour matched with one of 40 matte, long-wearing shades. The foundation is lovely and soft-wearing, easy to blend and offers buildable coverage. So if you just want a little coverage you can do that but if you want heavier coverage you can build it up!
While I was at Harvey Nichols I also discovered the Fenty brushes which are beautiful. I’m a bit of a magpie when it comes to beauty brushes and the Fenty Beauty make-up brushes are stunning – decked out in millennial pink. The bristles themselves are oh-so-soft and the Fenty Beauty Full Bodied Foundation Brush works brilliantly at blending in the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation.
Again my magpie tendencies came out when I saw the Fenty Beauty Portable Highlighter Brush which is a magnetic retractable highlighter brush. Yes, EXACTLY. It also attaches to the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick so you will never lose your brush again. This is a great brush that easily fits in a handbag for on-the-go touch ups.
Need to get that highlight on fleek? Look no further than the Fenty Beauty Cheek Hugging Highlight Brush which again is a beautifully-designed brush that hugs the cheek for the perfect application of highlighter.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer
Again if you want that fresh skin look but need a little retouch action then the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer is great at adding a bit of blurred perfection with a touch of dewy glow. I actually stopped using powders a while ago and switched to primers instead because I do think they give skin a dewier look. I was finding that powders were ageing me and primers were actually making my skin look smoother, eliminating the need for a powder!
Fenty Beauty Match Stix are fun to play with and super easy to apply. In fact, they are idiot-proof. If you a beginner at contouring or highlighting then these are super easy to use and they blend really easily so don’t make you look like a clown! I’ve got the trio which has three different colours including Linen (a lighter toned stick you can use as concealer), Amber (a darker-coloured stick you can use for contouring) and the Starstruck stick (a pearlescent highlighter stick). Basically all you need to play with in a set of three!
If you are looking for a ‘killa’ highlight then the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Mean Money/Hustla Baby gives an amazing and buildable glow. So even if you like just a touch of highlighter or you go heavy on the highlighter, the choice is yours. Mean Money has a lovely soft champagne sheen and the Hustla Baby is a more peachy shimmer. I also like to use these as eyeshadow too so they double up as two products in one. Great for travel if you need to save some room in your handbag! I also love that the formula is cream to powder – absolutely stunning.
I had so much fun playing with the Fenty Beauty Match Stix in Trippin’ because you can use it a blusher or highlighter or eyeshadow. Again this is a fab multi-tasking product that will save you some space in your make-up bag and allow you to have that fresh-faced glow as well because you can just dab a little bit on if you want a more natural look or build it up if you please.
