Dealing with Melasma: The Best Products For Skin Pigmentation

Pigmentation is the worst. I know because I have melasma on my forehead. I noticed that it came about after an IPL session years ago and the dermatologist confirmed it. YOU HAVE MELASMA. Imagine going to get IPL to sort out some pigmentation and acne scarring and actually coming out of it with a whole new problem? Yeah that sucks. Unfortunately melasma can be caused not only by hormonal changes (i.e. during pregnancy) but also can be brought on by strong light if you are already prone to it. The thing is you don’t know until you know if you know what I mean. Anyways, I’ve been taking steps over time to help break it down and also prevent any new patches from forming. Here are some my favourite and best products for skin pigmentation.

Mary Kay Time Wise Replenishing Serum + Vitamin C Activating Squares

Now this is a very cool launch from Mary Kay that I’ve recently come across. Mary Kay is one of those brands that has been in my family for years. My grandmother used the brand and always raved about it – and she had good skin to boot. The newest Mary Kay launch is the Mary Kay Time Wise Replenishing Serum + Vitamin C Activating Squares which are some pretty cool little dots of pure Vitamin C that you dissolve into serum and apply to the skin. Vitamin C is one of those tricky products that breaks down really quickly so this is way to deliver fresh and active Vitamin C straight into the skin. When you dissolve the square of Vitamin C in your hand you simply need to add some serum and then mix it in and apply straight to the skin. Vitamin C is an antioxidant so will help brighten the skin and also help prevent further pigmentation issues which can be caused by pollution and sunlight.

Medik 8 White Balance Click Oxy-R

If you are concerned about pigmentation then the Medik 8 White Balance Click Oxy-R is by far the best serum I’ve tried that helps to break it down and eliminate it. This does WORK. And actually this is my second time trying and reviewing this product, it’s so darn good. The White Balance Click Oxy-R is a serum that has 10 active ingredients (no retinols or hydroquinone) and it does help to even out skin tone. It’s the best product I’ve found so far and I would highly recommend to try it if you suffer from pigmentation or uneven skin tone. You simply need to click the top to activate the ingredients and the formula comes in 2 x 10ml individual bottles and you can use it morning and night.

Medik 8 White Balance Duo Brightening Day + Night Creams

Because I love the Medik 8 White Balance Click Oxy-R serum so much I had to try both the Medik 8 White Balance Duo Brightening Day + Night Creams as a part of a whole skincare routine to really amp up the fight against pigmentation. Again these work in conjunction with the White Balance Click so if you are serious then it’s good to add these to your skincare arsenal. I like using products in conjuction because I really do find they work for me the best that way. The day cream contains an SPF 50 which you must use to limit your chances of getting future pigmentation and the night cream contains Niacinamide which helps tackle dark spots and evens out skin tone. A must have set if you are really wanting to work on getting rid of the pigmentation! It’s also a great product for melasma as well.
