Ditch the Face Powder: Dewy Skin Favourites

For the past six months I’ve ditched face powder. Yes, that’s right, completely ditched it. The break-up is official. I much prefer a natural, dewy skin look and I’m happy I made the decision to break up with powder because my face looks younger and fresher without it. If you want to look naturally younger, try ditching the powder for a week and really work on your skincare routine to plump and make the skin glow. Here’s what I’ve been using to make that younger, fresher skin happen – have a look!

Sanoflore Agua Magnifica Essence

This is a beautiful oil that I recently took with me to South Korea (where essence is all the rage). I first used it on the long-haul flight there and also when I arrived I washed my face and applied a fresh layer. I could tell instantly that it really helped to plump my skin and make it look more alive. My hands were parched as well from the flight so I even added a couple of drops to my hand cream for an added boost of moisture. The Sanoflore Aqua Magnifica Skin-Perfecting Botanical Essence feels super silky upon application and it contains floral water, peppermint and nine organic essential oils. A fabulous oil – I’m now applying it at night and especially when my skin looks particularly dull. This looks great underneath a BB Cream as well!

Sanoflore Rosa Angelica Dewy Moisturiser

Well if you are after dewy skin then it’s all in the name of this particular product which is the Rosa Angelica Light Dewy Morning Moisturiser from Sanoflore. This is a beautiful velvety cream that refreshes and plumps the skin to give it that dewy appearance. It also smells amazing and is perfect layered on top of the Sanoflore Aqua Magnifica Skin-Perfecting Botanical Essence.

SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic

A Vitamin C serum is a fabulous addition to any skincare routine because it both protects against free radicals and also brightens at the same time so I would highly recommend adding it to your daytime skincare ritual. SkinCeuticals remains one of my top favourite skincare products because they simply work.

The SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum contains a whopping 15% Pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid), 1% Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol) and 0.5% Ferulic Acid. It defends skin from pretty much everything bad including radiation, ozone pollution and free radicals. And of course, it helps to brighten and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is a hard-working serum and in the quest for perfect dewy skin, the serum to definitely add to your skincare arsenal.

A La Carte Cosmetics Complexion Enhancer

If you need a bit of a boost to the skin then the A La Carte Cosmetics Complexion Enhancer is like good skin in a bottle. It’s a moisturising primer with micro-pearls that naturally illuminate and colour-correct the skin and give it a beautiful dewy glow. I find this is perfect to wear on the weekend alone for a no make-up make-up look or under my foundation during the week when I’m headed to work.

Kate Somerville Cold Cream

Remember the days of cold cream? I used to use Noxema for a long time and certainly all through my teenage years. My grandmother always used to use Pond’s Cold Cream as well because it was really gentle on the skin. So, I was super excited to see the return of the cold cream in the Kate Somerville Cold Cream. This is an upgrade on the original cold cream of the past however because it really does remove stubborn make-up whereas sometimes the it took a couple of tries with the previous formulas. This is a great cleanser to use in the morning, when your skin doesn’t need a deep cleanse because it does leave your skin super soft afterwards and not stripped of oil like a foam cleanser. A fabulous morning cleanser that will help prep your skin on its way to a dewy future.

J-One Jelly Pack – Concentrated Multi-Functional Primer Gel

I’m in Korea as I’m writing this so it’s no surprise I’m a fan of the J-One Jelly Pack Primer Gel. This is a mask, treatment and primer in one so it’s pretty fabulous at creating dewy skin which Koreans are known for. Korean women don’t wear much make-up and they prefer a natural, dewy look over heavy make-up any day of the week. The jelly pack (love this name) contains hyaluronic acid and fullerine (a powerful antioxidant) that helps defend against pollution whilst still delivering that dewy glow.

Avant Advanced Bio Absolute Youth Eye Therapy

I recently visited a skincare clinic where the doctor told me that I must use eye cream and eye serum. My eye area has always been the first to show my exhaustion and age so lately I’ve been using a really good eye cream – the Advanced Bio Absolute Youth Eye Therapy from Avant Skincare. The formula contains a blend of plant actives, oils (Sweet Almond, Cucumber and Avocado) and natural ingredients that work to reduce wrinkles and dark circles. For me I need something that works on my dark circles and fine lines so have found it in the Avant eye serum!

Cult 51 London Night Cream

When you sleep your skin regenerates itself so its important to use a really good night cream that is going to help your skin do its very best. The Cult51 works with your skin to do exactly that and it’s got 51 BENEFITS – hence the name! There are some pretty big claims with this product including increasing new skin cell production by up to 25%, up to 52% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles after 28 days and increasing skin oxygen uptake by up to 45%.

Basically, any skin problem you can think of except for acne this cream will work on. So, for me this is a really exciting product. I’ve just started using it so have yet to comment if my wrinkles will be reduced by 52% but I can tell you I’m more than excited to find out. This cream even helps your skin adapt to changing environments, making it a really smart cream to take on your summer travels.

Elemental Herbology Age Support Hyaluronic Booster Plus +

I’ve become a big fan of Elemental Herbology lately because I had the loveliest facial on what had been an extremely frazzled week. The Elemental Herbology Hyaluronic Booster Plus+ Intensive Moisture Serum is full of botanicals (with therapeutic levels) that help combat ageing. And I have to say that every product I’ve tried from this brand I’ve fallen in love with as you will probably see as I’m including a lot of their products in my blog posts. This is a serum so use it before moisturising – it contains loads of skin-plumping, dewy-enhancing ingredients that have a long-lasting effect. Dewy skin can be yours with this!

Elemental Herbology Radiance & Vitality Facial Glow

I recently had a facial with a celebrity facialist in London and she really emphasized how important exfoliating the skin is. If you don’t regularly exfoliate then your skin will not effectively absorb the active ingredients that you put on it. The Elemental Herbology Radiance & Vitality Facial Glow is an overnight cream that also helps to remove dead skin cells with alpha-hydroxy acids derived from apples, sugar and milk. It also contains a granactive retinoid to target ageing and helps prep the skin for protection from UV rays and environmental aggressors the next day. Pretty much everything you  need in a jar right?

Elizabeth Arden Miracle Hydrating Mist

If you want dewy skin then you need a hydration mist. This will instantly give that dewy skin look and I carry a mist with me pretty much everywhere and am an avid liberal spritzer. The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist is perfect spritzed onto skin before you walk out the door for the day (or for a long-haul flight where I’m using it right now). It contains a superfruit blend, antioxidants and vitamins – basically this is a nutritious cocktail for your skin that you can use at any point in the day for dewy, fresh skin.
