My hair always gets so dry after a week in the sun and at the beach so I am really into my summer hair care. To combat that, there are specific hair care products that I am absolutely loving this summer, especially since the London heat wave brought all the sunshine we could have ever wanted this year! Finally, a proper summer…but now I just want to know when is the sun coming back? While it’s hiding behind the clouds, I’m busy repairing all the damage from the summer.
I’ve got fine, wavy hair and it is colour-treated as well so the products that I refer to in this post are great for those hair types (or any hair type, really). I know it’s harder to find products suited to finer hair types though, so I tend to focus on those more. Here are some summer hair care products I’m loving this year so far and ones I’m using to keep those summer beach waves lasting longer, even if the sun is hiding behind the clouds. I’ve also written about all the beauty essentials I’ve taken on my summer holidays as well in another post.
Beach waves are the best right? There is nothing like it when you are on holiday but what happens when you get home? To recreate the beach waves that you had on holiday you can use the Kérastase Aura Botanica Eau de Vagues. This is a super-light texturizing mist (hence great for fine hair as it doesn’t weigh down). Not only does it create natural looking beach waves, but it also defends against heat styling too!
This is a fabulous leave-in conditioning spray that you simply spritz into damp or dry hair (I use it in my second-day dry hair to give it some texture and definition). It’s pretty much weightless meaning it’s the perfect hair product for fine hair. This also protects against heat styling as well or you can use it as a light everyday spray to give hair a bit of moisture.
If you have dry hair and are looking for a good shampoo for dry hair, then look no further than the Kérastase Aura Botanica Bain Micellaire Riche. This shampoo as you guessed uses micellar technology to lift away dirt and oil without stripping the hair. This is a luxe shampoo that is worth a payday treat, trust me. It even has caramel pigments in it to form a layer of protection against pollution so if you live in a big city this is a great shampoo for urban environments.
I’ve got wavy hair and if you are looking for products for curly hair specifically then the Kérastase Aura Botanica Crème de Boucles is just for you. This is a hair cream which intensely nourishes dry hair but also does what I like to call ‘toning’ curls – i.e. defining, separating and contouring. Yes, contouring your curls is now a thing. The formula contains Mexican Aloe Vera Extract and rich Amazonian Murumuru Butter so perfect to take on your holiday too.
Kerastase Aura Botanica Bain Micellaire Shampoo (travel-size)
I’m so lucky in that I get to test and try all sorts of amazing products and when I travel I hate to compromise on quality. So, I was excited to see that Kerastase makes mini travel sizes of the Kerastase Aura Botanica Bain Micellar Shampoo. This one as you know uses micellar technology to get rid of excess dirt and oil. It’s great for holidays because usually you are spending the majority of time outside and sometimes you can’t always bring your dry shampoo if it’s an aerosol and you are only taking carry-on bags with you. Therefore, the need to wash your hair does arise more often and when it does, you will have your luxe little shampoo with you when the hotel’s generic shampoo just won’t do.
Kerastase Aura Botanica Intense Moisturizing Conditioner (travel-size)
Again, you can’t go without a good conditioner when travelling and Kerastase makes their mini version of the Aura Botanica Intense Moisturizing Conditioner pretty irresistible when it comes to decisions at the till. A great nourishing conditioner that soothes hair that has been exposed to heat and sun all day.
Another little travel-sized miracle maker is the Percy & Reed Wonder Balm which is essentially a primer for your hair. I like to think of it as a leave-in styling cream with conditioning benefits so I use it on the ends of hair that feels a little dry or to smooth any strays coming out of my topknot.
I LOVE a good hair mask and because my hair was feeling on the dry side from the sun, I’ve been using the Lee Stafford Mucho Moisture Mask. This mask not only smells amazing but is packed with antioxidants and vitamins to put the boost back into your tresses. It also doesn’t leave hair feeling weighed down and greasy like some masks do so would recommend it for fine haired beauties as well.
