The 5 Products You Need for an At-Home Facial

Let’s face it, facials are expensive. I know because I have A LOT of them. And while you can’t beat seeing a specialist (I recommend a facial a month or every other month if you can when living in an urban city), there are ways to recreate the spa experience at home. I love a good Sunday facial in the evening before a busy week where I can really give my skin a good cleanse and a treatment. Here are some of my favourite at-home facial products to help recreate that spa experience.

CLEANSE

Temple Spa In the Beginning Deeply Cleansing Melt

I am literally obsessed with the Temple Spa In The Beginning Deeply Cleansing Melt. It feels like a facial on your face every time you use it and I particularly like using this in the morning to give my skin a real treat. This is a cleansing balm that melts onto your skin like a dream. Unlike other cleansing balms I’ve tried this one has natural beads that gently exfoliate the skin. I like using this before an at-home facial because it doesn’t strip the skin from natural oils before you start your treatment and the sensorial experience makes it feel like you really are at a spa.

TREAT

Temple Spa Purification Deep Cleansing Mask

I’ve really been trying to use a mask twice a week these days. I live in London, an urban environment which as lovely as it is, I can’t deny the pollution in the air, just like many other urban cities. Therefore, I think it’s important to use a deep cleansing mask twice a week to clear out the rubbish. The Temple Spa Purification Deep Cleansing Mask smells incredible (like all of their products) and really does give skin a good ole cleanse. It helps unblock pores and get rid of dead skin cells too making it one of my new favourite mud masks. Also you don’t need to leave it on long – at the minimum 5 minutes! I like to use this as part of the treatment part of my at-home facial.

Guerlain Super Aqua Eye

I love a good eye gel mask for my under eye area when it looks tired, puffy or dehydrated. If I’m ever on a work trip abroad, I always bring eye gel masks with me to keep me looking fresh and alert and they are an absolute saviour after a long-haul red-eye flight. The Guerlain Super Aqua Eye patches are the crème de la crème of the eye masks and they work in only 10 minutes so if you don’t have that much time then these are great to use. It’s all about instant gratification with these as well – when you take them off you will be ecstatic at how smooth your under eye area can look. You can also use these as a longer term investment for the skin under your eyes, using them once or twice a week for a continuously smoother under eye area. I think eye gels are a real treat so love to include them in my at-home facial routine.

FINISH

Neostrata Bio Hydrating Cream

The Neostrata Bio Hydrating Cream is a fabulous cream (and I love Neostrata products as well). It’s perfect for using after a treatment because it’s really non-irritating. This is all about restoring the skin’s lipids and moisture barrier. You can also use it after laser treatments, microdermabrasion or peels too. It contains 15% Gluconolactone (a Polyhydroxy Acid) which is the magic ingredient that helps to minimise fine lines and restore the skin’s barrier.

NeoStrata Skin Active Intensive Eye Therapy

I always follow an eye treatment with a REALLY good eye cream. The Neostrata Skin Active Intensive Eye Therapy is one I use on my facial nights and just before bed to help with replumping the skin around the eye contour. The eye contour is where we can really show our age first so it’s an important area to both treat and protect.
