When you hear the word ‘watermelon’ what do you think of? For me it’s summer, sunshine and something cold and refreshing on a hot day. Watermelon is a joyful fruit, don’t you think? I’ve started seeing watermelon beauty products lately as well with watermelon as a key ingredient and I couldn’t be happier. It turns out that watermelon offers a lot of hydration to both the body (when consumed) and to the skin (when applied as an ingredient within a topical beauty product). It’s also chock-full of anti-oxidants which we all know help to defend the skin against environmental aggressors.
When SBC announced they were launching a new Watermelon Collection I was so excited. Why? Well, because if you have read any of my previous posts on SBC you would know that I am already a fan of the products and use them nearly everyday (love the skincare gels!). Also, because summer is nearly at our doorstop, watermelon beauty products seemed like the perfect idea to me. I also have to tell you that ALL the products in this post are all available as a TSV bundle on QVC from the 15th of May 2019 and we all know a QVC TSV is pretty much the best thing ever because you just save SO much money. So, let’s delve into the products, shall we?
First up is the SBC Refreshing Watermelon Shower Gel & Shampoo in a HUGE 1000ml bottle which is definitely going to last anyone awhile. I love that the product is both a shampoo and a body wash because to be completely honest with you, I’ve definitely used my shampoo as a body wash previously. I mean if you run out of shower gel mid-shower it’s not like you are going to run out and get more right? And who needs to clutter up their shower anyways – less really is more.
The SBC Refreshing Watermelon Shower Gel & Shampoo smells DIVINE. Honestly, I could swim in a pool of this stuff – it smells that fruity and fresh with strawberry, grapefruit and our hero, the watermelon. I also like that it’s silicone, SLS and paraben-free (silicones aren’t really good for your hair). And don’t think just because it’s a 2-In-1 that it skimps on the hair ingredients. It actually doesn’t. It contains Pro-Vitamin B5, Glycerin and Plantasil Micro (helps prevent breakage). My hair felt soft and smooth after using this and smelled like a bowl of delicious fruit for hours and hours. It’s the perfect body wash and shampoo for summer.
Now in the summer you don’t want to be putting on heavy creams just after getting out of the shower so the SBC Refreshing Watermelon Skincare Gel is the perfect solution. It’s a gel moisturiser so it feels really cooling and refreshing upon application and it sinks in really quickly without a greasy residue. We all know how hot the tube in London gets in the summer and I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be sweating on the tube with expensive cream running down my face or back (sorry for the visual) but you get what I mean.
The cool thing about the SBC Skincare Gels is that they can be used on the face or body making them a VERY handy beauty essential to pack when travelling for the summer. With the SBC Refreshing Watermelon Skincare Gel in particular you can use this as a lightweight moisturiser in the summer, as a primer before make-up application or even as a mask to cool the skin down and give it instant hydration. And of course, you can use it all over the body as needed. The gel contains watermelon oils for plump skin as well as glycerin to lock in moisture.
Another great summer range from SBC is the Coconut & Plumeria range. My favourite product for summer is actually the SBC Coconut & Plumeria Shimmer Skincare Gel. This is a skincare gel infused with mica to leave a lovely hint of shimmer on the skin so it really couldn’t be better for summer because you can apply it to bare limbs for a lovely glow. The scent takes me straight to the Caribbean as well with undertones of coconuts and exotic flora. You can use it on the body or on the face as a moisturiser (it’s infused with hydrating coconut oil) and again it sinks in super quickly with no greasy residue left behind.
And if you like a scent that makes you feel like you are in the Caribbean (I mean, I don’t mind) then the SBC Coconut & Plumeria Shower Melt is also divine to add to your shower routine. I like to treat my shower time like my own personal spa appointment so this really adds to the ‘escapism’ sensation. The formula is really creamy and hydrating with Coconut Oil, Shea Butter and Vitamin E to help hydrate skin, which tends to dry out no matter what season we are in! You don’t want a shower gel or body wash with harsh ingredients that is going to strip your skin of natural oils and this one most certainly won’t do that. Again, the smell is incredible and gives you that spa feeling, even if you only have 5 minutes.
Have you ever tried any watermelon beauty products? What about coconut?
