Top 10 Make-Up Picks for Fall

It’s fall and the leaves are falling all around us. It’s a pretty scene, that’s for sure but there’s always more than meets the eye. If we take a deeper look the heaters come on, the dry air swirls around us and we get less sunshine – our skin gets dry and dull. Am I painting a sad picture? I think so but I am also here to help! I’ve put together my top 10 make-up picks for fall that will perk you right back up. Heed off those winter blues!

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Foundation

Elizabeth Arden does a mean foundation which is why their new Prevage Anti-Aging Foundation has made my top 10. And as I’ve been a fan of Prevage for a few years now I was thrilled that this anti-ageing superhero had made it into a foundation! I like it when my make-up works just as hard as my skincare and I try to pick foundations that are either anti-ageing, have SPF or are long-wearing/smoothing. Basically they have to do something special. And Prevage as an anti-ageing treatment is very good – and it’s also good in foundation form.

3INA Cream Eyeshadow

3INA is a brand that I’ve recently discovered and whose shop opened in Covent Garden earlier this year. They have so many colours to choose from – with nails, eyeshadows, lipsticks – there are hundreds to choose from! The sheer variety of colours will simply blow your mind at 3INA. I was particularly impressed however with their new Cream Eyeshadow. I have a deep, dark purple (which complements my green eyes well) that is really lovely. It melts onto the lids and blends easily. It also wears well throughout the day. I think I’ll be saving this for festive parties later in the year.

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water Resistant Longwear Liquid Liner

OMG. These are just amazing. I really love that Urban Decay have actually made it easy to apply liquid liner in a razor sharp line. The brush on these are really tiny and thin so you can be very precise with your drawing. I have been getting fonder and fonder of liquid eyeliner as I find it’s more long-wearing than the pen type and the Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner not only wears well it’s also waterproof! Which is incredibly exciting. I was particularly impressed with the Gold Rush colour which is just like a gold rush of colour – you will want this for special occasions – it’s superb and shiny. I also like the purple in Ecstasy – again an unexpected route away from black liquid eyeliner which I like. It’s fun to try new things and new colours – don’t you agree?

Vincent Longo Water Canvas Crème to Powder Foundation

This lovely Crème to Powder Foundation by Vincent Longo is great for those days where you need to put on foundation quickly but efficiently and you want it to look good. The formula is like a second skin – no joke. So if you are fan of that naked skin look which is really in right now then this is your man. I like the fact that it is oil, fragrance and paraben-free. The coverage is also buildable so you can go as low or as high as you want. I like to use this on the weekends when I want a natural, no make-up look (but with a little make-up right?).

By Terry Eye Designer Palette Party-Pris

I love palettes – I’m just like a magpie who just can’t get enough of them. This By Terry Designer Palette Party-Pris is so perfect for party season this year – I love the colours. They are bold and beautiful and I am really particularly loving the greens and purples that feature heavily in this palette. They are something unique and different. I love my neutrals and rose golds but this one plays it a bit more dangerously. The pigment is lovely with these shadows – shimmering and ultra-fine so they blend really well.

Clarins Festive Eye Make-Up Palette

If you are looking for a palette for all seasons and especially for this season then Clarins Festive Eye Make-Up Palette will get you there. I really love Clarins eyeshadows and I’ve covered them previously in this post HERE and HERE. The reason why I love them is that they are really good quality and they are designed for the everyday woman. By everyday woman I mean the woman who goes to the office and then goes out occasionally and wants a beautiful and natural eyeshadow that will complement her. This would make an absolute cracker of a gift for Christmas. All 10 eyeshadows inside are new for Clarins this season and I also like the fact that the palette was created as a part of an initiative to minimise environmental impact as it features carefully selected materials and reusable packaging. Within the palette there are 6 satin-finish hues, 3 matte shades and 1 pink diamond touch.

Paul & Joe Eye-Color Trio – Looney Tunes Compact

I love Paul & Joe for their packaging – it’s always so fun and whimsical and it makes putting on make-up fun again! This Looney Tunes collaboration makes me smile. The trio of eye colours inside are perfect for carrying around in your handbag to top up when needed. The compact is super lightweight and easy to do a touch up on-the-go.

Beauty Blender

Who can live without a Beauty Blender? Tell me one person who can! Once you’ve tried a Beauty Blender I can guarantee you won’t go back. They blend in places that are very hard to target with a typical sponge – i.e. corners of the eye, around the nose, even around the lips and in-between the brows. Really great sponges which is why they have made it in the top 10 this month!

Illamasqua Vanitas Palette in Rose Gold

I have recently discovered Illamasqua and I’m wondering why I didn’t discover it sooner. This Rose Gold Eye Shadow Palette is a bit of a no-brainer. First of all it’s gorgeous, second of all it’s rose gold. Shall I continue? Okay fine then. The palette is also filled with 12 of Illamasqua’s best-selling shadows – all in one palette! I love the fact that this palette contains neutral shades so you can wear them in a variety of different ways from an office eye to a night out eye. Minimal to smokey – anything goes. The palatte was inspired by the dark romance of 17th century still-life paintings. The formula is really pigmented as well and buildable too so you can go as far out as you want. Love, love, love.

Shades Include: Slink (Champagne), Stealth (Buttermilk), Servant (Eggshell), Vernau (Yellow Ochre), Bronx (Bronze Gold), Wolf (Chocolate Brown), Forgiveness (Chocolate Plum), Fist (Deep Plum), Rim (Black Coffee), Tango (Rich Copper Bronze), Terra (Earth Clay Red), Obsidian (Rich Black).
