Oh, the change in seasons. Every year it affects me in every which way – I feel run down and achy when the weather gets suddenly cooler and it also tends to really dry out my skin, hair and hands. And dry skin we all know leads to dull skin. I’ve been trying to focus on getting my radiance and vitality back in all areas of my life – body, soul and skin too. It’s hard, seeing as there are so many external factors which seem to take the energy out of me but with skin, I can try to control it at least! Here some beautiful products I’ve been using for radiant skin – girl gotta get her glow back ya’ know?
Serum/Lip/Eye Products
By Terry Cellularose Brightening CC Serum Radiance Elixir – Rose
By Terry just has that luxurious feeling and the products are a joy to use. You feel good when you use them, I think that’s why I love the products so much. Because my skin has felt so dull and dehydrated recently I’ve turned to more of my luxury beauty cupboard for some radiance-boosting elixirs. The By Terry Brightening CC Serum Color Control Radiance Elixir is just what it says on the bottle – it’s a colour control elixir so it colour-corrects, evens out skin tone and gets your skin glowing in general. It’s got White Rose Stem Cells and Vitamin E to do the hard work whilst light-reflecting technology does the pretty work giving skin a radiant glow. A must-have if your skin has been feeling down in the dumps.
By Terry Cellularose Brightening CC Serum Radiance Elixir – Apricot Glow
I’ve got two colours of the Cellularose Brightening CC Serum – the Apricot Glow gives you more of a sun-kissed look and adds a bit of radiance to the face (light to medium skin tones would be perfect for this product) whereas the Rose Elixir illuminates so it’s good for fair skin types. I love that it evens out tone, smooths and brightens with a lit-from-within glow. When I wore it people were asking me if I had been to the spa over the weekend – it’s that good!
Now this is probably the most expensive lip balm on the planet, but it is seriously worth every cent. I’ve had parched lips lately due to the weather getting chillier and the air getting drier and I have to say this is a joy to use. It’s got a beautiful velvety texture and smells of a bed of roses. The price is reflective of the highly sought-after rose wax. I am obsessed with this product and have even used it to wipe away stray mascara that wandered down my face. Another little tip is that you can also use it on the nails and cuticles if they are dry. Yes, it’s expensive but when you try it you will know what I mean when I say it’s worth it. It also lasts a long time and a little goes a long way. A beauty treat I would buy again and again.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye
You absolutely cannot forget the eye area when it comes to the quest for skin with more vitality and radiance. The eye area gives away age and also tiredness, so it doesn’t matter if the rest of your face is glowing – if your eye area looks exhausted, it’s going to ruin the rest of your efforts! So, first of all get some sleep and then think about using an eye serum and good eye cream. It does make a real difference. I used to think I didn’t need an eye cream but when you think about it there are different issues that the eye area has – like dark circles and puffiness – that the rest of the face doesn’t have to deal with.
I’ve been using the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye which is fabulous – it’s an eye treatment that you use at night when your body goes into rest and repair state and it works to brighten and lift the whole eye area. It uses fancy ChronoluxCB Technology to help significantly inhibit the appearance of visible damage: fine lines, crow’s feet, dark circles, puffiness, dryness and uneven texture. The texture is also dreamy – it’s silky and gel-like so sinks in quickly. Use it at night for more refreshed eyes in the morning which will lift your whole look, making your face more radiant overall.
Cleansers/Treatments
Samaya Renewing Exfoliant (Kapha)
One way to get glowing skin is to exfoliate. But for some this might be a bit too abrasive, so a gentle exfoliation also works to get rid of dead skin cells effectively. Samaya is a gorgeous Ayurvedic brand which I’ve spoken about previously on the blog so I was excited to try the Renewing Exfoliant for Kapha (my dosha). They have three ranges which are each based on your dosha type. If you don’t know your dosha, you can head to the Samaya site to take a short questionnaire to find out which one you are.
Once you do find out your dosha, you can then shop products for your type, creating an entire tailor-made skincare regime for yourself. Having first used the Samaya products I found out I was a Kapha so have been using Ayurvedic skincare based on my dosha ever since. The Renewing Exfoliant I chose for my own dosha and it’s a really lovely and gentle exfoliator that I have been using every day. I generally do a deep exfoliation twice a week so with the Samaya Renewing Exfoliant I can use this everyday which helps with radiance and getting that glow back into the skin.
The exfoliant uses pineapple enzymes (great for removing dead skin cells naturally), aloe (one of the oldest skincare remedies out there), jojoba (an oil that is most like our own so the skin loves it) among others as well as specific Ayurvedic ingredients like Amla (I have an Amla oil for example for my hair), Gotu Kola (anti-inflammatory – you may have heard about this one already!), Turmeric (we all know this one – great antioxidant), Ashwagandha (Indian ginseng – restores energy), etc.
It’s great for everyday use for radiant skin!
Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm
If you love a cleansing balm that also doubles as a treatment, then look no further than the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm. This is a lovely balm to use morning or night to gently cleanse and hydrate at the same time using the power of Moringa Seed Extract which is a kick-ass antioxidant. It’s also got all the fatty acids your skin loves too with Grape Seed and Almond Oils. Basically, this balm is just a joy to use – how did taking off make-up get so fun? Use it with the cloth provided to remove makeup and if you want to use it as a hydrating treatment mask simply apply to clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes.
Allies of Skin Bright Future Overnight Facial
I’ve just recently started using Allies of Skin and I am in LOVE with the Bright Future Overnight Facial. It’s like a facial in a bottle that you don’t have to book – even better right? I love taking advantage of the night to really repair my skin whilst sleeping and this product does just that. It’s essentially a sleeping peel (not pill haha) with 8% AHAs + BHAs, 5% Enzymes, 7 Brighteners, and 7 Antioxidants.
I mean honey if you want radiant skin then this is the ONE. It does everything it is supposed to for the radiance result including exfoliate, illuminate and hydrate. My skin has been tired, dull and dehydrated lately and this has certainly been the little booster my skin has needed to get the radiance back in my face. If you like cosmetic science as well you will be happy to know that this contains next-generation Hyaluronic Acid gel to hydrate while Glycolic, Lactic and Salicylic acids work hard to exfoliate and unclog pores. A brilliant product if you are on the quest for radiant skin.
I’m all about using fruit acids to gently exfoliate and the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel is just chock full of them. I’ve always been a fan of Elemis products and this Papaya and Pineapple peel will brighten and exfoliate the skin without scrubbing your skin (like with a scrub). All you have to do is apply it to clean skin (avoiding the eye area) and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. It also contains seaweed actives to hydrate, repair and further protect. It’s a great product to use the night before a big event!
Pixi products are so nice – I just love the brand because everyone who works for them is so nice. But the products also deliver! The Pixi Rose Tonic is a GORGEOUS toner that hydrates (and I looove the rose scent). Simply apply it to skin after cleansing – it will help pH balance the skin, calm and tone.
Moisturisers
Omorovicza Illuminating Moisturiser
Omorovicza is another brand that I’m in love with and whose products I use quite regularly. I think because their products are such a joy to use I’m a big fan! One product that I’ve been loving lately is the Omorovicza Illuminating Moisturiser – the key word here is ILLUMINATING which is another word for RADIANCE. This is a fabulous moisturiser to help get your skin back up to par because its got vitamins, essential oils and natural ingredients – in fact, it’s pretty perfect for dry skin. It even has Ruby Crystal which helps blur imperfections so this is a quick win for radiance, whilst the cream works longer-term to hydrate dry skin.
Allies of Skin Molecular Multi-Nutrient Day Cream
Again, I’ve become a big Allies of Skin fan lately and have been dipping my toes into the range. The Allies of Skin Molecular Multi-Nutrient Day Cream is a fab day cream that has all the ingredients that send the cosmetic science part of my brain into party mode. This is because this cream has eight hydrators, 10 antioxidants and a 12.5% nutrient complex so it’s no wimp here.
Also, this is a great cream if you are looking for products with pollution protection. This is an anti-pollution day cream and protects against not only environmental aggressors but also HEV light with ingredients like natural moringa extract, tamanu oil and fermented black tea (amongst many others – trust me it gets more science-like with this one). It targets every skin problem under the sun as well. So, for city slickers out there, this is the cream for you – because we all know pollution is a radiance killer!
Tinted Moisturisers/Sheer Foundations
I’ve recently discovered Winky Lux and I really must say I love the packaging and bit of fun around the brand as well. The Winky Lux Tinted Veil (I’ve got the shade Deep which doesn’t suit my skin tone, but I still love the formula – there is a shade for lighter skin too). Basically, this is a tinted moisturiser which I absolutely love – I’ve always gone for the tinted moisturisers over the heavier foundations because I prefer more of a fresh-faced look. This is a great product to sweep over skin on the weekend to give a nice radiant glow without having to make much effort! It’s also got SPF 30 in it to protect against UV rays.
BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream
I’ve always absolutely loved the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. Again, I’m a fan of the lighter, sheer formulas as opposed to heavier foundations. This one is lovely – it’s sheer, gives a nice glow to the skin but manages to hide imperfections and even skin tone. The formula contains heart-leaf globe daisy which helps protect against environmental stress and damage – what’s not to love? A great everyday sheer foundation that will give enough coverage but leave skin glowing.
Body/Hair
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil for Face, Body and Hair
Not only does my face suffer during seasonal changes but my hair and body get really dry too. To combat it I’ve been using the gorgeous NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi Usage Dry Oil Spray. I’ve been using this product for awhile simply because I like that you can use it on face, body or hair. I love it as a dry body oil – it feels luxurious and smells amazing too with all the essential oils like Camellia, Hazelnut, Borage, St John’s Wort, Sweet Almond and Macadamia.
You can also spray this onto hair for an overnight treatment or onto ends of damp hair to protect against split ends. I even love to put this on rough ankles and dry cuticles – it’s a little miracle-maker!
